Music’s biggest night went down last night for the 61st annual Recording Academy Awards.

Hosted by Alicia Keys at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, some of Hip Hop’s biggest stars walked away with big wins. Cardi B made history becoming the first female as a solo act to win Best Rap album with her stellar debut album, Invasion of Privacy.

Other huge wins of the evening included both Jay Rock’s “Kings Dead” and Anderson .Paak’s “Bubblin” taking Best Rap Performance. The Carters who were absent were crowned with Best Urban Contemporary Album for Everything Is Love.

Meanwhile, H.E.R. took Best R&B Album with her EP, I Used To Know H.E.R., Daniel Caesar’s “Best Part” was the Best R&B Performance honor and Ella Mai was “Boo’d Up” with her gramophone for Best R&B Song.

Drake, who declined to perform, made a surprising appearance at the ceremony and accepted his Best Rap Song for “God’s Plan“. However during his acceptance speech, Drizzy was cut short after devaluing the Academy.

Childish Gambino, who was also absent, took two of the most prestigious honors with “This Is America” winning Record Of The Year and Song Of The Year. Prior to that, the song won Best Rap/Sung Performance and Best Music Video. The full list of winners can be viewed here.

The night included an electrifying performance of “Make Me Feel” by Janelle Monae. Post Malone brought Hip Hop and Rock together with his performance of “Stay” and “Rockstar”. Afterwards, Postey was accompanied by Red Hot Chili Peppers for “Dark Necessities”.

Meanwhile, H.E.R. slowed it down with her “Hard Place” and Cardi B kept it raunchy with “Money”. As the night went on, Travis Scott was joined by James Blake, Earth Wind & Fire and Mike Dean for “Stop Trying to Be God”. Turning things up later, La Flame crowd surfed with his mosh pit and raged inside a cage for “No Bystanders”. It’s lit!
