The MTV’s Video Music Awards took place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey last night (August 26).

During the ceremony, Missy Elliott received the Vanguard Award presented by by Cardi B. Prior to the honor, Missy brought the electrifying theatrics on stage for a 7-minute medley including her new “Throw It Back” off her recent Iconology EP.

Missy then took it back recreating her classic “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)” video and “Get Your Freak On”. She then segued into “Work It” and transformed into a scarecrow for “Pass The Dutch” and then closed out the set with “Lose Control”.

The show had an A-List roster of performances. Big Sean and A$AP Ferg brought Detroit and Harlem on stage with their new single “Bezerk“. Lil Nas X brought “Panini” to the ceremony and Queen Latifah, Fetty Wap and Naughty By Nature repped Jersey to the fullest.

H.E.R. rocked “Anti”, Megan Thee Stallion sizzled the pre-show, Lizzo held her big-ass debut performance and Normani brought the 90s vibe.
