Bad Boys for #1

Bad Boys For Life has opened at no. 1 at the Box Office. The blockbuster film, which features returning stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence as Miami detectives Mike Lowry and Marcus Burnett, grossed an estimated $73.4 million in the U.S. during the four-day Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend and $37.3 million globally.

This marks the second-best opening film during MLK Jr. Day weekend and Sony’s biggest R-rated debut. With a $90 million budget, the film is estimated to do $160 million overall before it leaves theaters.

The third installment of the action-comedy cop film comes 17 years after its predecessor, Bad Boys II, which amassed $273 million worldwide in 2003. Meanwhile, the original, Bad Boys, made its debut in 1995 with $141 million.

The soundtrack inspired by the motion picture, was released the same day (January 17) and is executive produced by DJ Khaled, who also stars in the film. The 10-track compilation features contributions from Rick Ross, Bryson Tiller, Meek Mill, City Girls, Quavo, Rich The Kid, Jaden Smith, Buju Banton, and more.

Both Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are already on board to return for the upcoming Bad Boys 4, which is already in the works.
