Pop Smoke Ties Prince For Second Longest No. 1 On Billboard R&B/Rap Charts
Woo forever.
Pop Smoke continues to make history on the Billboard charts.
This week, the late rapper’s posthumous debut, Shoot For The Stars Aim For The Moon has spent 19 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and now ties Prince’s Purple Rain as the second longest ever to hold the spot.
With the most weeks at No. 1 since M.C. Hammer’s Please Hammer, Don’t Hurt Em in 1990, the LP passes Michael Jackson’s Bad, and leaves only Jackson’s Thriller as the only leader with 37 weeks.
Over on Top Rap Album charts, the album remains at No. 1 for its 20th week. It passed Eminem’s Recovery last week as the longest rap album to remain at No. 1.
Pop Smoke released Shoot For The Stars Aim For The Moon in July 2020 where it debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 charts and released its deluxe version a week later.
The LP has since achieved countless certifications including the 4x platinum hit “For The Night” and the 3x platinum “Dior“. It also features the double platinum “Mood Swings”, “The Woo”, “What You Know About Love” as well as three platinum songs “Hello”, “Got It On Me”, “Something Special”. It is currently at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 charts.
