Chaka Zulu Shot & Wounded In Atlanta
Prayers for Chaka Zulu.
Music executive and longtime manager of Ludacris Chaka Zulu is recovering after being shot in Atlanta over the weekend.
The Disturbing The Peace Records co-founder was one of the three victims that were shot at 11:35 p.m. on Sunday night (Jun. 26). They were all transported to a local hospital, where 23-year-old Artez Jamil Benton passed away.
Police Lt. Germain Dearlove told Channel 2 Action News the shooting was the “result of a dispute in the parking lot,” which occurred in a parking lot behind a strip mall. Former Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed said Zulu was stable. “We are fortunate to report that Chaka Zulu is in stable condition and recovering,” Reed said. “The family thanks everyone for their well wishes and prayers, and asks for their privacy at this time.”
Along with Ludacris and Zulu’s brother Jeff Dixon, Chaka helped launch Disturbing Tha Peace Records in 1998, which housed artists Ludacris, Shawnna, Chingy, Bobby V, Playaz Circle, Lil’ Scrappy and others. In 2008, the label signed a long-term deal with Def Jam Recordings.
DAMN!!!! Hopefully the other person as well as Chaka make it!🙏🏽I find myself saying this almost every other day that in the Black community so many of the shooter’s are cowards! The moment an argument/disagreement takes place all they can think of is shooting someone!!!🤦🏽♂️
