Tory Lanez Guilty In Megan Thee Stallion Shooting

Tory Lanez was found guilty in the 2020 shooting of rapper Megan Thee Stallion.
On Friday (Dec. 23), a Los Angeles jury found the 30-year-old Toronto rapper and singer guilty on three charges including assault with a semiautomatic firearm, carrying a loaded unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharge of a firearm with gross negligence. Tory, who plead not guilty and was previously on house arrest, was taken into custody immediately following the verdict.
Jurors reached the verdict after nearly seven hours of deliberation across two days, following a trial that lasted nearly two weeks. Megan, who wasn’t present in court, accused Tory of shooting her in the foot following an argument in Hollywood Hills in 2020.
“We are shocked by the verdict,” said Tory’s lawyer George Mgdesyan, who’s legal team plans to appeal the verdict. “There was not sufficient evidence to convict Mr. Peterson. We believe this case was not proven beyond a reasonable doubt. We will be exploring all options including an appeal.” Meanwhile, Meg’s lawyer Alex Spiro released a statement: “The jury got it right. I am thankful there is justice for Meg.”
Tory Lanez’s sentencing is scheduled January 27 and is facing the maximum of 22 years and eight months in prison with a possible deportation to his home country Canada.
