If youre a Jay fan and think he should go first, then lets just say:

I’ve always thought Lupe was talented, but I didn’t know his back-story. But our government is hardly a dictatorship—If you think so ask the people of Egypt who’ve had the same president for 30 years. The whole theory behind Democracy is that people in public service are held accountable to the citizens through. . . voting. It’s a self fulfilling prophecy—if you never vote, you should never expect your opinions to be heard. Lupe has a strong voice in Chicago—and beyond—but instead of using it to get people elected that share his views it seems as though he’s encouraging people not to vote. Change doesn’t just come from the top down, nor just the bottom up. It takes both grass-roots organization AND action from people in power.
This isn’t a political blog though, and at the end of the day it’s a dope song that’s generating buzz for his album. Clap for ’em.

He doesnt say that hell never vote, or that he doesnt think activism is appropriate, it seems more like hes voicing the discontent that many of us are feeling with “the government” in general. Its not specific to Republicans or Democrats, because our problems arent unique to an individual party, and its not really about a specific candidate, because nobody, including Obama, seems willing to actually listen to the people. And your vote means nothing when your will is immediately ignored.

I don’t think he loses credibility and I think he is refering the the whole 9/11 consipracies and them actually dropping building 7. Like in the interview with the firefighters that were there at the time said there were clearly explosives in the building and explosions going off inside. So don’t really see why he would refer to pulling the firefighters….

I’m not a fan of this record. Lupe hasn’t been consistent since “Food & Liquor” in my opinion. Very talented emcee, but I haven’t been interested in his music since then. His records have too much of a rock n’ roll/ pop vibe for my taste (maybe it’s the singing on the hooks in every song recently?). F&L was a classic album though.

This is not the same exact beat as I need a doctor.. Similar kit and what not yes but a lot better. I hate the effect they have on the vocals for I need a doctor. Plus the flow on a beat makes such a big deal, and Lupe’s flow killed it.
