Slaughterhouse Freestyle (Cipha Sounds & Rosenberg)

alt

Been trying to get the MP3 of this all week. The story goes Slaughterhouse was booked for Hot 97’s new morning show, Cipha Sounds and Rosenberg. But because Mouse didn’t want to speak on the Raekwon situation, they shelved the sitdown. They did get them to freestyle over “The What” instrumental and played it on the air which I heard half-asleep one morning. Got it? Either way, just listen to 3/4ths of Slaughterhouse play pass the mic. Too bad Joell needed a lozenge. Ha! No shots.

Sidebar: The Internets are warring over the Slaughterhouse sub-par SoundScan performance. Pretty entertaining stuff. I may weigh in with my take next week.

I dont really think they expected to sell a whole lot more than that, these dudes have been around and know their market/fan base and that is who they are doing this for. This number is also not counting digital downloads to my knowlegde just straight up physical sales. Its only these stupid new fans that look at numbers and are so fanatic about it like somehow they’ll be getting paid if an artist does a mill in a week, makes me laugh. These dudes are touring till next year off this ish and got on Rock the Bells, which they may not have done as individuals. I am sure they are good and I love that they put out an album like this for us “listeners” who are still left.

The internet (Blogs, Twitter, Facebook, BlogTV, Ustream) are all playing a part in ruining artists chances to sell records. It looks like an appealing way to promote but it strips away the mystique and curiousity that used to exist back in the day. I knew nothing about Jay-Z and the only way to find out even a bit about him was to buy his album and REALLY LISTEN. Now people feel they are on the same level as the artists and it’s considered a waste to go and purchase their music.

Imagine if Will Smith Twittered and live chatted all day. You would never go see one of his movies. You would feel like he’s just one of the homies.
