Missy Elliott Diagnosed With Graves’ Disease

Missy has been musically M.I.A. for quite sometime and has opened up about her fight against Graves’ disease. In an interview with People mag, Missy discusses the incurable disorder and how she’s been fighting its symptoms.
“I was [driving and] trying to put my foot on the brake, but my leg was jumping. I couldn’t keep the breakdown and almost crashed. I couldn’t write because my nervous system was so bad–I couldn’t even use a pen. I’m 30 pounds lighter because I’ve been exercising.” Elliott continues. “My thyroid is functioning, so I haven’t had to take medication in about nine months. [But] you live with it for the rest of your life.”
Missy will be featured on the next VH1 Behind The Music June 29 at 10 p.m.

Wow I remember when I wad little I used to look up to Gale Devers a track and field star who also suffers from Graves Disease. Sad to her that Missy also is suffering from it. Crazy.
