Jay-Z Watch The Throne Listening

With Kanye in Paris, Hov held a private listening session for Watch The Throne last night in NYC. Peep, YN’s faux hawk in the far right corner? Ha!

According to Billboard, Jay played 11 tracks. Odd Future’s Frank Ocean is featured on two. As of now, there’s no release date for the project.

Hov says it took three stages for the album to be completed. Some records were even scrapped for being too grandiose. The process stretched three continents (Australia, NY, LA, Paris) with him and Ye recording entirely together. He prefers not to release a traditional single, but hopes to shoot a video for the Beyonce-featured track, “Lift Off”.

Jay also revealed that he’s already two tracks in for his next solo album. One of them will also feature Frank Ocean.

Love Frank Ocean… he is all over this Jay/KanYe project though. Watch the Throne better come with that fresh! I don’t wanna hear any of the same shit from either of them.

  2. MR.SWAGGER says:

    WATCH THE THRONE !

  3. BiggMar says:

They gon’ out do it with Frank Ocean man, Watch The Throne is gonna be dope, but not as dope as Bad Meets Evil HELL: The Sequel. Kanyes’ Production needs to be insane on this project.

  4. SoundScan says:

Watch the mutherfuckin throne….nd u people on this site say its Neva comin out….the roc h bastards….when u hot I’m hot nd when ur feet cold mines is sizzling…

  5. ZoomZoomDad-Otis says:

Theses other rappers better push them release dates back. Bernie Mac voice: There’s gonna be Trouble, Trouble.

  6. Word says:

My nigga Frank Ocean getting some recognition that’s wassup. He on WTT and Jay next album? That’s a great look. Somebody mentioned a song called Lift Off on the other post relating to this. Hope its dope. But im more interested in the other features…or is it just Beyonce and Frank? And how many songs? Tracklist? Anything?

And Frank Ocean just sings right? He’s not a producer right? I feel like Tyler’s the producer but im not sure if Frank does too.

  7. heajae says:

Games mixtape are going to be better then this shit, AUG 1 ST HOOD MORNING

  8. Word says:

    @Errol Games

I already watch the throne when eminem and royce brought hell the sequel.
Unless this is the queens and princess throne.

  11. dagooch says:

  12. […] of all, shout out to Rap Radar and YN for the picture! Last night in NYC, Jay-Z held a very private listening session for the […]

  13. NoNotToday says:

What is the big fucking deal with Frank Ocean? Yea he can write but he cannot sing worth a shit. What is wrong with the music industry. Why push these SONGWRITERS as artists? Get out there and find the real singers. GOSH!

  14. Word says:

How can we say Watch The Throne > Hell: The Sequel (or vice versa) when we’ve only heard Em and Royce joint? Come on guys, lets at least hear WTT before we judge. Because if yall basing this solely off of “HAM” which wasnt great, innovative, or creative, then theres no comparison. You guys are assuming the rest of their album WILL BE great innovative, and creative but all we’ve heard is HAM which isnt any of those things. When was the last time any of yall have even played that song? How long were you bumping it?

I dont doubt that Jay and Ye will drop and great album but lets not make assumptions that it’ll be classic or better than anything else yet until they drop or leak something thats better than that HAM shit.

  15. NoNotToday says:

And whats up with that FOLLOW THE LEADER bullshit? All ya’ll do is post up a song with a retarded sentence… Nothing spectacular… Don’t get the big head.

  16. Jay says:

WATCH THE THRONE KILLIN’ THE GAME! HA!

  17. DJ says:

You know Watch the Throne is going to sell way more albums than em and royce collab cd!

  18. raw rap says:

no single no tracklist .. ok ..i think that bme it´s about lyrics and wtt it´s about beats .. not a big bad meets evil fan but how the fuck can you people say wtt>bme ? wtt it´s not even out yet . the fuck ?

  19. ... says:

Man says Jesus should stop bitching… and Jay-Z is first to work with him. No one noticed that one though

  20. Blue says:

    @ DJ
It’s possible…but what’s funny is that Em n Royce threw their album together from just messing around in the lab and look how well it did for an EP…aside from that Royce is nowhere as big of star as Yeezy is so I would hope that WTT would sell more…they’ve already scrapped a bunch of tracks and their taking their time…only makes sense right? If WTT flops it will be a sad day for hip hop.

  21. padmondjung says:

WTT is gonna be great o guess!

  22. mr.x says:

BAD MEETS EVIL >>> THESE TWO QUEERS. YES KANYE IS THE BIGGEST FAG IN HIP HOP.

THEY CAN’T TOP HTS AND IT WAS NOT EVEN A FUCKING LP. SHIT JUST IMAGINE IF THEY MAKE A REAL ALBUM. THERE’S NO WAY IN HELL GAY-Z AND SISSY WEST CAN LAY VERSES LIKE MARSHALL AND ROYCE. JAY CAN’T SPIT FOR SHIT CUZ HIS MIND IS TOO RUSTY PLUS THAT FAG KANYE DON’T EVEN WRITE HIS OWN RHYMES. EVERYTHING I HEARD FROM WTT ALBUM IS STRAIGHT WACK AND A BEYONCE FEATURE?? IT’S WILL BE POP. THE ONLY THING THAT WILL BE BETTER THAN HTS WILL BE THE PRODUCTION OF THIS ALBUM SINCE IT’S AN LP PLUS THEY HAVE THE PRODUCER (BUT NOT AN ARTIST) KANGAY WEST.

  23. Takeoff Zebra Baby says:

    @…

God you’re an idiot. Go find me the name of the song that that Frank Ocean quote came from. Don’t worry, I know it doesn’t really exist- I just want you to waste half your day before realizing it was a completely different dude, on a song that Frank Ocean had nothing to do with, because you are exactly THAT ignorant.

That Allhiphop.com review was pretty good. Can’t wait for the album.

  24. Aaron says:

Im excited for this BUT not as excited as I was for Bad Meets Evil HELL:The Sequel. I am pretty sure it wont sell as much as BME or be as good but…..yeah.

Like Royce da 5’9 saud “talk to me with a Kanye mouth, ill knock your bottom row of teeth out!”

  25. 50 CENT IS GARBAGE says:

Fuck this shit. It will be just as bad as Gay-Z’s other collaborative albums. Anyone remember that awful shit with Linkin Park? and ain’t this rapradar clown YN the biggest Jay dickrider of all time? I mean he will be anywhere if Jay’s present.

Nas will bring Hip Hop back with Life Is Good.

    NASTY NAS >

  26. Negrito says:

B4 i read any comments, i should`nt be surprised if i read a lame comment stating “Jay always hopping on whoever hot to stay relevant.” They ignore the fact that rappers been messing with other producers since i believe Kane`s ITS A BIG DADDY THING 2nd album. I truly believe he was maybe the 1st rap artist to deal with different producers. Anyways, WTT is coming and i think that album will be the issue from now to next year and possibly beyond.

  27. nycccccc says:

nas was working with frank ocean all of a sudden now jay working with him. jay stay on nas shyt

  28. Your mother's "friend" says:

  29. Nat Turner says:

    I’m gonna keep it 100!

NO ONE PLAYS BAD MEETS EVIL IN THE HOOD.

WATCH THE THRONE WILL BE PLAYED THOUGH.

So stop with damn EP already you closet fan losers!

  30. Word says:

@Nat Turner Who gives a fuck about the hood? As if the hood is buying albums and dictating the flow of hip hop these days. Fuck outta here.

  31. Converse says:

LOL what the fuck are you niggas reading?? SMH their is no realese date

Any fuck these old niggas blocking my nigga Cole shine? Go retire camel face. Real talk fuck another weak lp from you. This nigga doesnt give a fuck about his team SMH

  32. Nat Turner says:

@Word or anybody else who hates HAM.

What was so bad about the song?

I think the beat was sick and Jays verse was on point.

The bad thing about HAM was Kanye’s verse and the track didn’t sound completed or mixed.

It was a leaked record. Half hate it and half love it.

Jay or Ye never said anything about the song, so obviously it had to be a throwaway.

Anyways I liked HAM and some ppl didn’t. NEXT!

  33. Citylivin' says:

niggas have really got to chill with putting Royce on such a high pedestal as if y’all were fucking with him before he teamed up with Em….unless you’re a Slaughterhouse fan.
…..and niggas really got to chill with that “Jay is hopping on what’s new”…..that’s why oldheads like Jay & Busta are still live and breathing in hip-hop & some of your favorite artists are non-existent….ironic Jay & Busta went to the same high school and used to freestyle.

  34. Nat Turner says:

At Word, you are a highly emotional college student. What’s with the name calling bro?

Oh you don’t like being called a closet fan?

Oh you mad cause the hood is not playing BME?

Oh you mad cuz the hood sets it’s own rules and we not dictated by some snobby ass CEO’s?

You think we care about record sales in the hood nigga?

Nah niggaz just want to know if the hood love them and if so, the artist can get real money doing shows in the hood.

The Hood don’t love Em or Royce nigga, maybe in Detroit they do, but keep it real brat, you blow if the hood know.

    DWELL ON THAT

I always hate your comments, you brat!

  35. Converse says:

@Nat Turner What you mean nigga? These old niggas biting the South sound you see nothing wrong with that SMH

No originality just hoping on the hottest sound out ?Lex Lugar beats? And it was corny especially Kanye verse. Repeting Ham didnt help neither. I guess Rhymefest stop writing for that nigga

  36. Negrito says:

You got to admit that bringing Em name on every Jay post is exhasting. I mean Em got all the accolades and Jay gets the hate. Can this blackman do him already? @Nat Turner……cosign @ Word, you do seem easily bothered by 1`s opinion.

  37. James says:

WHY IS GAY-Z OLD ASS STILL RAPPING!?

  38. Nat Turner says:

@ Converse, why does it matter if it’s south or east or west, where ever. If you black it’s not stealing, it’s a black cultural thing. If you wanna separate shit like that based on coastal areas, then you got to realize how bad these crackers brainwashed you son.

Don’t base a leaked, underproduced, unmixed and unauthorized song to determine how WTT is gonna sound. Do u honestly think Jay and Ye don’t know music?

Anutha thing, stop with the “old heads” talk, unless you think you gonna remain your same age and same looks somehow, then you should literally kill yourself now, cuz oneday YO ass will be considered an old head to.

YALL NIGGAZ NEED TO THINK MORE AND GATHER SOME FUCKING RESPECT FAM!

  39. James says:

WHY THE FUCK IS OLD ASS FEMINEM STILL RAPPING TO? SMH AND YES BME WAS FUCKING WACK! WASNT EVEN HIPHOP SHIT WAS RAP! WEAK PUNCHLINE AND CORNY METAPHOR! CANT BELIEVE WHITE PEOPLE ACTUALLY BROUGHT THAT SHIT! NEVERMIND THEY ALSO THE SAME PEOPLE WHO BROUGHT A POP ALBUM!? RECOVERY!

  40. Fela Kuti says:

    Stop overrating that BME album.damn!!

  41. […] Complex’s Noah Callahan-Bever was in the house and dished as much info as he could (remember what I said about Jay and control?) via Twitter. Shout out to Nah Right? and RapRadar. […]

  42. Converse says:

    @Nat Turner
    ^

What you mean? Thats hip-hop thats the way it always been. We separate coast so their want just be one sound. I know it sound crazy but it jvst dont seem genuie when a Northern rapper rap on that type of beat. Sometime you dont wanna hear the same sound over and over again. So what I am implying, is that their will eventually become one sound? Their nothing unique about that. Why you think the South is hot now? Because people got bore hearing the same old sound if that make sense.

And to the?old head comment? Nah I got love and respect for the people who pave the way. I was just ranting bruh dont take it personal. I just think Jay is to focus on his self and not his crew? He doesnt wanna take the backseat, I know im not the only one who feel that way.

  43. dmc says:

BME will never be over rated, and this albums gonna just as dope. Great year for hip hop fans.

Watch The Throne > everything else

  47. daman says:

As Much As Liked Hell The Sequel, No Way In Hell Is WTT Gonna Fall Second Place To It. Eminem & Royce Even Said They Just Put Some Songs Together, They Emailed Songs Back & Forth. Kanye & Jay-Z Recorded Every Song Together, Put Alot Of Time In It. From The Reviews, They Crafted Some Concept. And Please Quit Saying The Old Nigga Shit, Royce & Eminem Like Both 39 Or 40. So That Doesnt Matter. Then Again, We Havnt Heard WTT So We Dont Know Yet

  48. steveywonderz says:

kanye and jayz are gonna put out dope shit, bad meets evil was garbage royce da 59 cant rap and he tries to ound just like eminem

  49. Bx Slime says:

Why is it everytime I look up Watch The Throne, the Em&Royce collabo is always mentioned? Let WTT come out first before ya start comparing. BTW I dont get the hate Jay and Yeezy be getting, they are two of some of our LEADING artists as in they make their own sound instead of jumping on the bandwagon.

  50. Alas says:

hurry up and shoot that video Hov so you and B can piggy back off of each other’s projects/buzz.

ahh the benefits of being Jay-Z.

  51. Dujay says:

wish i was there bad, i need to hear them frank ocean tracks!

  52. HOVA says:

Watch The Throne >>>>>>>>>>>> Bad Meets Evil

    HANDS DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  53. Pauly Dee says:

IMO Eminem is the best rapper alive and the BME EP was dope! But don’t sit here and try to compare it to WTT or vice versa. Watch the throne isn’t even out, so we don’t know how the album will sound. We can’t go off of the word of, like, a handful of people. Hell, we all know that it will be, production wise, better than HTS but will it be creative? Will it be a game changer? That’s yet to be seen, but don’t say that it’s not doper than BME if you haven’t heard it.

As for the album itself, I already know it’ll be dope, but a classic? That’s a bit much.

In conclusion, I believe that this album SHOULD be dope…as long as it doesn’t sound like some repetitive “Follow The Leader” type shit.

  57. Leggo says:

SMH @ BME and WTT comparisons, yea BME is dope even if it was just an EP. As for WTT we haven’t really heard anything seriously good off it and that HAM track was ass lmao so it’s better not to compare. In terms of sales of course it’s gonna be WTT > BME since we all know that Ye and Jay are top players and it’s an actual album unlike Em and Royce’s.

The Watch The Throne album is subliminal the songs are throwing very strong messages thats not easy to catch everything on this album has a meaning it the cover is showing something the inside is showing the american flag in a crazy way the stars look like they are forming into other shapes the way Jay & Kanye’s faces look its almost devil looking but you look at certain feautures of the face it looks like a cat a wild cat maybe a black cat and the bottom picture has so many hidden subliminal pictures
