Deathrow, G- Unit, Ruff Ryders, Bad Boy, its interesting to see how often crews on top only last 3-4 years.

12 long years ago….think about all that’s changed in the rap game and who’s come and gone since then…and he’s still going platinum today…and the label is dominating urban music more than maybe ever did, even in the late 90’s Hot Boy/Big Tymer era…the media nor the fans give Cash Money the props they deserve…this is the LAST REMAINING MAJOR HIP HOP LABEL WITH A STRICTLY DISTRIBUTION P&D deal (look up what that means), who first blew up in ’98 and is dropping hit after hit and platinum artists…you bring up longevity like this isn’t their 3rd decade of being a major force in the game and like the biggest true blue chip new stars in hip hop aren’t signed to them…Nicki and Drake JUST got started and aren’t even finished peaking yet, let alone on the decline…Nicki in particular has all kinds of untapped potential as far as the heights she could reach…she’s 8 months into her album cycle with the biggest hit of career, Super Bass STILL claiming the charts at like #4 in the country

Musical quality is all subjective. So while I understand that you might not like the music, it really has nothing to do with this conversation. Longevity and results in the game, however, are not subjective. The fact of the matter is that Cash Money’s reign has lasted longer than just about any other black owned hip hop label
Mind you, only a couple were ever fully black owned to begin with (Cash Money, No Limit, Rap-a-Lot)…but I include those who were partially owned by the Tall Isrealis through joint ventures too because they had parital black ownership (Roc-A-Fella, Death Row, Bad Boy, etc.)…every single one of them have either
1. Sold all remaining ownership stakes to the T.I.’s (Roc-a-Fella)
2. Failed and went out of business and no longer exist in any relevant fashion (Death Row, No Limit)
3. Are shells of themselves and pretty much only exist as vanity labels for the label-head (G-Unit, Bad Boy)
Cash Money has a reign of platinum dominance not matched in hip hop, and people continue to act like it’s by some accident or something and that it’s forever on the brink of falling off…after a while, you have to look at the reality of the situation and give the devil it’s due
