Jay Electronica’s back in the city and stopped by Stadium Red last night with Young Guru, Just Blaze and Just’s engineer, Andy. Hopefully this means Act II is coming real soon.
The Chain Remains the game intact.
I mean, we can safely assume it’s not dropping this year. We’re into the 4th quarter now…so, we’ll be lucky to get a “single” by the end of the year. Jay said he wants to build artists at Roc Nation, not rush albums out, so we’ll see

@ toad352, you’re right, he did sign with roc nation last november. I don’t know, he has a great amount of talent, but he’s what? 34? 35? and he still hasn’t had an album out? I feel like he has nothing to rap about anymore. Think of Mobb Deep, Nas, Big, Pun, all of them came out with classic material at 18-21. Young cats that lived the life. What does Jay live? He has a kid with Badu? 1 Mixtape? And what? 3 unreleased EPs? without even a release date or single for a debut. By the time he actually comes out he’ll be almost 40, and then what? what kind of a career is that? I don’t want to sound like a hater, cause like I said, dude has talent. But Com’n! He should be on the you played yourself for not having an album out 15 years ago. Just saying.

@bilyunair…Nasir Jones can definitely match up with elect today, yesterday and tomorrow. According to the votes in YouTube and twitter Nasir Olu Dara Jones had the best verse on the Carter 4. There are plenty of artist that rap with substance, with wisdom and that have traveled the world …but how many have legendary careers? Very few… Nas was/is just that gifted at the age of 17 to have the ability to write with greatness and at the age 38 his pen game is still sharp. “The day of dope 18 year emcees” is NOT over…there are a few out in the world just waiting on their chance to shine.

How in the world could Jay Elect “run out of things to rap about” just because he’s 35? Is oppression gonna end? Is the world gonna stop spinning? Are the pyramids gonna crumble? Because that’s the stuff that Jay E raps about. He’s only been on the scene for like 3 years anyway, dropping music insanely rarely during that time, so everything you’ve ever heard him say on a track has been from the perspective of age 33 and up. And with the rarity that he actually releases anything, he hasn’t exactly been burning through his concepts very quickly.
You would think being homeless and jobless, as well as growing up in NO that Electronica would have been had a story to tell way before the age of 35. So it takes traveling the world for you to create an album. Act II was suppose to be out in 2007 and then he promised 2009 and here it is damn near 2012. He continues to release unfinished songs as well. How long does it take to rap about the stars, moon, dragons and fathers in heaven or scientific mathematics? Electronica is nice but he is not reinventing the hip hop wheel.
Fuck youtube, Nasir verse on carter 4 aint better than his verse on Ghetto Dreams with Common. 3k got that, 3k held his own right after Tech as well, while Nasir was flowin wit SHYNE. Anybody will sound dope next to Shyne. Who are these ppl that run the industry? Not us blk folks. IN FACT, those ppl come from the lineage of the same folks that brought us over here. Nas kicked knowledge on that entire ‘Untitled’ album. The song ‘Testify’ alone was better than the entire song ‘Queens Get The Money’ and that wack ass beat. You sound like a complete hater. Nas status is legendary: 8 certified platinum and 3 gold albums. Distant Relatives is the only album that Nas has not received a plaque for as if yet. And fuck your opinion about Nas’ verse on the Carter 4…if the majority on youtube and twitter state Nas had the best verse what makes your opinion valid?
