While out in Vegas, Mac’s chopped it up with Bootleg Kev. He spoke on staying independent and how he feels about his album being projected to be number one this upcoming week on Billboard.
Independent album debuting #1 on Billboard? Imagine if he was on a major. Over 100k is solid in general, but for an independent artist thats like gold first week to them. Good shit.
I like the way things going these days. All you need is a strong fan base and you’ll have solid sales. No need to sell out and go pop, put Alex Da kid on the boards with some generic pop star on the hook. Nope, just appeal to your core fans and they WILL buy your shit. Simple. Thats the way it should be.
Im pretty sure ppl will use the “He’s white, of course he’ll sell” argument though.
