No, your ears didn’t deceive you. The homie Mr. Folarin shouted your boy out in front of Terrence and Rocsi today on 106 & Park. Thank you Stephen Hill for not cuttin’ me out. And oh yeah, have you purchased Attention Deficit yet?
[…] Props to RapRadar […]
Not that RR….anyne who reads RR should really care but Wale has been getting killed out there with the reviews:
Entertainment Weekly:
Attention Deficit is marred by intermittent efforts to conform to a misogynist mainstream-rap blueprint. It’s hard to hear such an unusual talent suppressing the very qualities that make him worth paying attention to. B
Rolling Stone:
On his 2008 Mixtape About Nothing, this D.C. rapper had the guts to set self-examining rhymes to Seinfeld samples. There’s nothing so admirably weird on his debut. Wale instead fashions himself Kanye East, a mix of aspiration and anger, given to jazzy moralizing à la the Roots yet not above tapping Lady Gaga for the single “Chillin’.” 3 out of 5
The Boston Globe:
The best tracks include the club-geared “World Tour” (it’s an obvious tip of the hat to A Tribe Called Quest) and “Shades” with Chrisette Michele, which shows off the MC’s narrative skills as it deals with relationships complicated by skin tone. The production, by everyone from Mark Ronson to Cool & Dre, is as fluid and assured as the MC.
The New York Times:
Attention Deficit would have been more impressive if it were Wale’s first nationwide exposure. But the mixtapes, with their low-budget production but far-reaching rhymes, now testify to how much Wale decided to conform.
The Washington Post:
It’s a stellar offering from a wildly gifted rapper, but almost predictably, Wale’s feelings are mixed. By the end of his 14-track, big-league debut, Wale sounds nothing less than harried, hustling to please the gods of Billboard, radio, MTV, the blogosphere, and his home town.
NOW…..none of these are hip hop publications but damn. Im not a big fan and yes Ive heard the album: It gets a 3.5 mics from me.
I’m really happy for Wale I’ve been down with dude since his early mix tape days and he’s evolve a lot as an artist one thing I’ve noticed thou is he gets a lot of hate for different reasons … but after listening to his album today I think that whether you dislike him as a person or think he’s not that great of rapper one thing i can honestly say about Wale is that he really does stands for something .. and thats a lot more than I can say about other artist today.
conformed.
the mixtape about nothing is his best work. this shit is mainstream mimmicking malarkey…largely.
Y’all would do well to put the digg option up here
That damn hat segment….. I heard crickets… Great job BET!!!!!!!!!!!
its great seein wale on bet he’s from the same spot as me so I love it. def tell he’s from the DMV area, his attitude and being humble def reminds me of my people back home.
ya i DEFINITELY copped it, and the album is DOPE. i give it a 4 to 4.5, (u should cop the itunes version for the 2 bonus traks, specially ”center of attention”. and as for wale album reviews, i saw on twitter enuff ppl givin him luv on the album, from talib kweli, fatboys, nipsey hussle, royce da 59, even fukin chad johnson and diddy, and a whhooollee lot of hip hop heads, so i dont think he’s worried bout those reviews… and i’ve seen some good reviews like XL from XXL mag and 4 star from allmusic.com
good shit wale
Good LUCK to Wale, he deserves it..

J.Cole is the future
Hold up ,YN didnt u sneak diss Wale a couple months ago wen he shouted u out on twitter?
i found out about rap radar through wale’s twitter a while ago. i remember he said somethin like ‘ima do u all a favor and tell u to hit up rapradar’.. he was right lol.. still disagree with YN on alotta shit but sites dope
Yea loved Wale’s interview but why not put up Melanie Fiona’s as well?
I just listened to Beautiful Bliss [feat. J Cole & Melanie Fiona]. Damn Wale got bodied by J. Have mercy.
Im probably coming across as a hater, which Im not. But damn-it mann, J.Cole got him on that one.
Uhhhh Attention Deficit is great.
Paint A Picture was great.
The Mixtape About Nothing was great.
Back To The Feature was great.
Orrrrrr maybe I’m just biased.
i love dude, I think he’s STUPID talented and I don’t see why people are saying his shit’s too mainstream. You think all of America really wants to hear some go-go? Sheeit….
I applaud him, I think he’s doing a great job and YES, J.Cole is a monster.
That is all.
LOL
I did a review of every song on Twitter.. I love Wale.. but there is WORK ahead of him. The debut album should be driving a flag into new undiscovered or lost territory and I didn’t feel it did that.
I gave it a 2 out of 5. This is not as bad as it sounds.. Jay-Z only got a 3.5/5 for BP3. A 5 would be Ready to Die.. and there’s only been a handful of 5’s in the history of Hip Hop. Wale won’t ever have a 5 if he stays with the go-go.
Overall, too many horns, too many words ( we know you can write, the challenge is in being relateable ). The guest artists were all new, very dangerous, none have albums out, the blind leading the blind. Bun B was the only veteran and it showed. He was concise and delivered over the loud horns like a pro. Wale was drowned out on many songs, hard to hear and the songs were hard to listen.
Best Song: Shades
Worst Song: Contemplate
Standout track: Beautiful Bliss
All the best to him getting a 2nd release… I did my part and *bought* the album..
Oh and can we get a moment of silence.. for the fans who couldn’t get the CD.. how did they only ship 30k? Not a good look with a Lady Gaga co-sign? How is this possible..? Fat Joe shed some tears and pouted abotu this a few years ago.. is Wale being set up to fail.. he was the only major artist released why was he undershipped..
I don’t know enough abotu the business side, and I don’t fuck with CD’s because my house is too good for CD’s but I do wonder why fans couldn’t find this release when they WANTED to. A definite Fail.
hi, does anyone know what designer made his cardigan??
