With the Grammys taking place this Sunday, Nirvana co-founder and Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl interviewed Nas on Chelsea Lately. Esco says he’s been nominated 18 times and explains the tom-foolery of hip-hop beefs.

Pretty cool, but Dave Grohl was not a founding member of Nirvana. He joined the band just before their second album.

Don’t get me wrong, Dave Grohl is the shit. But they went from punk to pop-punk after he got there. The universal benchmark for pop-punk, sure, but you get a lot more attitude out of the Chad Channing stuff.

Dave Grohl was on the 2nd album BUT, with exception of “Smells like teen spirit”
he was just copying the drum parts that were laid down in pre-production by a different drummer
In Utero , the 3rd album, was when Dave got to play his own style, beats etc
Dave Grohl is iconic tho, don’t get me wrong.

Those shoes could never be filled unless you had a passion fueled by coke (& every other drug) with a brain filled with a vernacular where the word “boundaries” didn’t exist.
However, I love hip hop, the culture & born/raised/living in NYC all my life I know hip hop in a very intricate way. from the many shows i’ve been to, artists i’ve known & producers i have worked with and studios i worked in as a jr engineer (terrible job btw)
I can’t stand how much we cherish the mediocre & yet I can’t help but put our beloved fallen artists on a pedestal
