  2. bullfrog24 says:

Any time I see macklemore I already know B.dot is the one who posted it lol

I like macklemore interviews, and I like that he has a message. All of that doesn’t matter though because his music is corny and horrible.

  3. congrats to him! says:

damn and he’s indie and outselling half these dudes with a major label backing. good marketing.

  5. Dashing says:

Hats off and much respect to an independent artist reaching massive mainstream success, and the kid can rap a little. The prodcution isn’t even bad….but there’s something missing about Macklemore…someone put it best.

“It’s rap music for people who don’t listen to rap.”

  10. RossRadar says:

b dot is throwing a mackelmore party tonight. good guys but shitty music . just like rap radar , good guys just shitty journalism they disguise as “documenting” none of them have any balls to LEAD the culture cuz that will mess up all that ad money. be a sellout for MMG ad space or be leaders just stop lying to the people and acting like you are both. you guys stand up to commenters and tweets but scared to death to stand up to people ruining the industry, which you end up contributing to yourself.

you dont hate me, you just hate the truth!

fuck elliott wilson, fuck amaya, fuck mackelmore, b dots cool, IM OUT.

  11. STINKMEANER says:

glad to see these dudes getting both critical and commercial success, they deserve it

  12. Facts says:

That’s pretty weak considering the success of their single. Shows that people do not buy into the artist but into the single

Next album going to flop like hell

  13. ARTOXICATION says:

Scarface said in his interview posted here that in 25 years hip hop will be suburban white kids and he is right.

  14. The_Insider says:

Congrats in order to Warner Music’s “Independent” success Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. They did a hellavua job rocking the Warner Music stage at SXSW along with Warner’s other acts. These boys are about as indie as my nuts are from my dick.

  15. Musikal says:

    Hip hop is truly dead.

  16. Devante says:

This Mac Diesel and B Dot beef has to end…

  17. Steve says:

Wow. You guys need to take a step back and look what Mack has done to get to where he is. Sure, Thriftshop brought overnight success for him, but it was everything that he did before that, which has made him. Hes not rap, hes hip hop. And hiphop is far from dead, you guys just need to dig around more, its malnourished and underfed (yeah, thats right, more Seattle references). Stop being lazy and actually start digging for good music.

  18. rht says:

anything in the media labeled as hip-hop is clown ish right now… I swear to God I love hip-hop so much and it hurts me to see it gone away… it was never meant to be a mass-applied tool, sick world we live in

  19. torie says:

Um…chill guys. You don’t have to like his music to respect his fame right now. If his next album flops, do you really think he is going to care? No. I’ve been listening to this dude since 2000 and he has grown tremendously. The “rap” you are referring to, that you think he sucks at, is gangster rap. He doesn’t follow that path. He goes his own route, writes about his life, if you like it cool. If not, that’s ok too. He could fall off the map tomorrow and he will still write and produce music. He has even mentioned in interviews that he sucks at making literations and similes like most of the mainstream. He writes metaphors and things he’s experienced. Different setting, still poetry. Respect the game, the man, and how he got to the top without a label. Chill the fuck out. lol. How many records have you sold? none? weird…

  20. WTF says:

It’s music, people have a right to listen to the MUSIC they like
    CONGRATZ 2 M x RL

  21. Carlito R says:

Congrats! Now lets see an Indie Black Rapper do it. Can a Black rapper go Gold without being major? I mean MAC Miller did it and now MACklemore has done it. Much respect to both Mac’s both but I wonder if they weren’t White would that of made a difference. Mmm. You know what never mind I’m not gonna hate, I’ll just celebrate with B Dot.

  22. Rob says:

Cash Money was the first to go ‘ghetto gold’ before they signed their partnership with the majors. Also, No Limit was pretty close to ghetto gold before the majors. So there’s your black rappers going gold on indie. Next…

  23. John P says:

Goddamn, B. Dot, just marry the fuckin guy already. This is not some incredible underdog story of triumph. It’s a corny white motherfucker who made a catchy song turned into a smash hit by the masses of corny white folks (and you) out there. This is not rocket science. White people LOVE corny shit. This is just another LMFAO’s “Party Rock” or Black Eyed Peas’ “Good Night”. Flash in the pan. Safe rap for suburbanites who usually find rap too “objectionable”.

  24. SoloK says:

    In other news….
Justin Timberlake’s 20/20 Experience goes Platinum!!

    that is all..

  25. King Chandler says:

We knew this was coming, B. Dot was on the soundscan site……..Refresh, Refresh, Refresh, Refresh, Gold…..time to go shove this shit in every ones faces, dude is probably making Macklemore lose fans because people are sick of hearing updates about him every 15 seconds. If something tragic was to ever happen to Macklemore somebody better have B. Dot on 24 hour suicide watch.

  26. Kemosabi says:

    @John P said it

  27. Hot Rod says:

    @ Rob

LOL sorry but I think Carlito wasn’t actually talking about “ghetto” gold as you put it. I think he was talking about officially going gold meaning selling (scanning) 500,000 units. You can believe all the Cash Money and No Limit hype all you want but NONE of their solo projects sold 500,000 units independently. They did as you said sold “ghetto gold” (out their trunks) which still means a whole ton of money for them but I’m pretty sure he wasn’t talking about money either just talking about a Black Rapper accomplishing what Mac Miller and Mackemore REALLY did. You would of been probably better off trying to say Tec 9.

  28. Kaly says:

@torie made the most sense here, i can’t even argue with the lame dudes who post on EVERY macklemore thread, claiming they own hip hop and know what’s right for it…with that mentality, yall can have it…

  29. Speed Racer says:

@ Rob what the hell does ghetto gold even mean??? 10,000 units sold in the hood?

  30. As Real As It Gets says:

I bet Brian blushed when he got the news about Mackelfish’s #’s.

  31. E says:

I think hip-hop needs versatility, and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis bring a style that might sound ‘corny’ to people who bump Drake and Young Jeezy, but their beats and verses are complex and have content that are a part of hip-hop that doesn’t make it to the majority of hip-hop listeners. Thrift Shop and Can’t Hold Us don’t even scratch the surface of how good The Heist, and their previous 3 projects, are.

  32. mika says:

Their music is a little too corny for me, but congrats?
    @ B. Dot, RossRadar’s comment does raise some questions…

  33. DJ Semtex's Prothsetic says:

    ^^
LOL, if more ppl like it then you cant argue with it. 3 lil faggots bumpin tech nine while 1 mil rapin waynes album. and yes rape-ing not rapping. go home w all that “real hip hop” bullshit B

  36. Imperial85 says:

Congrats to Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. Although some of his flow patterns are an acquired taste for niggas, he speaks on real shit and has a dope ass album. It’s not his nor B.Dots fault Macklemore can connect with a large audience totally INDEPENDENT! It’s not his fault a majority of black artists we follow speak about bullshit and nothing, and the black artists that do, we won’t buy their album or go to their shows. It’s not their fault 50 Cent fell off either. If an artist makes real music that makes a connection, they should reap the rewards.
