Skee Ya Later.
DJ Skee’s had enough. After 15 years on radio, Skee announced today that he’s leaving his posts on KIIS FM and Hip Hop Nation. His reasoning? Radio sucks. Although he’ll no longer be on air, he says there’s new opportunities on the way. Never settle.
….making a stand.
He makes valid points. Radio sucks and has sucked for a little over a decade now. No originality, the same 4 songs every hour…besides, streaming music is where it’s at now.

Hip-Hop Nation has got so fucking weak to me, never listen to it anymore, or maybe I’m just getting old.

When iHeart bought out my radio station I just about had a conniption. Don’t think I’ve heard 1 old school joint played since then, whereas you would get a whole set in the late night hours. They don’t even air the Big Tigger show anymore on Sundays and gave us Weekends with the Breakfast Club, and radio personality wise I rock with Hot97 so that’s another one of my childhood memories out the window over some corporate shit. Now it honestly IS just the same songs played over the course of a couple hours. I used to be able to guess the shit that’d play next, it’s that bad. So I clearly see skees point and I commend the guy for up and leaving. This right here’s what I’m going to school for and if nothing does indeed CHANGE, I’m going to rethink my career because this industry’s bacame bogus.
I just cancelled my Sirius/XM subscription for this exact reason. Fuck the radio. He’s right. Corporations ruined it.

DJs on Sirius/XM have WAY more leniency than those on FM

HIP-O-CRITICAL! FOH! 1st of all let’s get the real reason DJ Skee is resigning. He wants to focus on building a fledgling “Skee.TV” enterprise, and Mark Cuban is cutting him a nice enough check to focus on that and keep the bills paid. This would be a lot more respectable if he kept it 100 and said “I’m moving my talents to better opportunities – as I have hit the glass ceiling in radio”. To sit here and piss on radio. Skee was happy to get payment for doing everything he now bashes that helped finance and market his OWN EMPIRE. This exit is filled with hypocritical contradictions. It is SORRY. FAKE. BASURA.
