hahahahhahahaha Drake doesn’t singing that bad.
the album is fire i cant decide if its better than born sinner but damn its dope
Same here, and Born Sinner still on heavy rotation, but This new Album, man, really dope,
Born Sinner > 2014 Forest Hills Drive …in my opinion.
I honestly don’t like the excess singing on this one. Great storytelling nonetheless. No Role Modelz is a PLATINUM SINGLE though. #TIMELESS
This Nigga Found happiness……. I Love this Album he followed his Heart This Time Around.
this is his best album to date imo and the storytelling on some of these records i.e. “Wet Dreamz” is cold
J.coles album fucking sucks, it’s worst then the last which was worst then the last. bring that friday night lights “farewell” “before i’m gone” j.cole – blank bored stare the entire time listening to this album.
removed my headphones and threw them down, was so pissed after listening to this, elected so much more. the BEATS SUCCKKK YO. audio valium. cringeworthy singing, laziest hooks, lamest rhymes and patterns, his doing his best eminem , shouting loud and showing us how angry he is with nothing to say. abc rhyme patterns just rhyming the end of every sentence —–cat, —–hat, ——-sat.
then his like oh fuck people arguing over who’s the king everyones the king, that doesn’t matter. then the net track his like fuck you i’m the king of this. then white people snatched the sound. does he know him and drake are intact – basically white with with white mothers who raised them…white? smh.
The Warm up and friday night lights are the only projects you need from this guy. he just seems pissed his realised his nowhere near the caliber of talent required to take the throne (nowhere even close to drake or kendricks talent and they in turn are nowhere close to the talent of the 90s cats like nas, big pun, jay, pac, eminem, raekwon, andree 3000 in their prime – not even close) so now it’s fuck the throne fuck being the best. well better to hate what you can’t have cole. this guy is a hypocrite he seems more interested in being the best then making the best records or best rhymes – his trying to be personal like kendricks good kid mad city but he was a better rapper when he told other peoples stories and connected himself to them. friday night lights is what this album is trying to be but check friday night lights check – farewell and you don’t find a song on this album that captures him reminiscing as well, as interesting, with such a dope beat and flow. get this guy off the stage his not even a contender anymore. memphis bleak 2.0.
I believe there’s a bag of dicks you can go entertain yourself with, instead of writing hateful comments on the internet playing with yours buddy…You literally spent all that time hating on a man, and went through all the cons, then just do better if it’s all that serious to you, instead of complaining about it.
P.S. Make sure your grammar is on point next time you try to bash someone hoe. It defeats the whole purpose, and now you just look silly. Stop that #Nohate
opinion isn’t hating, if your claiming king, you better put out albums that don’t sound like a toddler on the drums and the garbage drunk man on the hook with nothing much to say on the raps but pointless monologues
Co-sign your points…the more I sit with the album the more it reminds me of Friday Night Lights which in turn reminds me that this album isn’t as good as Friday Night Lights. Btw we need to bury that whole “you have a negative opinion on the music so you’re hating” bullshit. Hating is not liking someone for being from North Carolina or being light skinned or being half white or any other asinine reason unrelated to the music. These were valid critical points
J.coles album fucking sucks, it’s worst then the last which was worst then the last. bring that friday night lights “farewell” “before i’m gone” j.cole – blank bored stare the entire time listening to this album.

do better.
and people will praise his mediocrity like Ellsworth Thoohey in the Fountianhead. Knedrick/ Drake = Howard Roark J.Cole – Peter Keating 0 hot gargabe soups…better?
Album is Incredible.
Everyone go out and support this album so J Cole can trade in his bicycle for a Beamer.
You missed the point, hes happy with his Bike
Lol good one
U missed the point bama ….lame
and u missed the joke, BAMA BOY
Kill ya self fuck boi
VERY DEEP THOUGHT BUT WHAT REALLY MAKES US HAPPY THATS LEFT UP TO THE INDIVIDUAL
Soul music. Like where this is heading. The great thing about album releases, with few singles is that it makes me go back to consuming albums like I used to. Listen to them all the way through. Ghostface’s album really shined under that light, even though there were singles out there before the drop. This intro is beautiful, soulful, appropriate imager. Reminds me of bicycling through the streets of Philadelphia.
Dope album, probably his best yet. Not a classic, but still excellent.
No it’s classic
I’m sorry there are cats out there like you who feel this way. Album had maybe 6-7 good songs & has limited replay value despite being good. As a Cole fan.
Damn i think you have to give it some time before you decide if it has replay value or not. Give at least a month of let it breath come back to it. Music is meant to be Coplex in its simplicity
Not really, I think if you like something you have to wait to see if it has replay value, but if you don’t like something off bat…hearing it 100 times and having it grow on you doesn’t mean it has “replay value” just means you’ve been brainwashed. Btw it’s HILARIOUS I should wait to judge if it has replay value but 19 cats consider it a classic without even having a full week to listen. You stans, man.
I’m a music major, I know how this shit goes, anytime you try to shortchange Cole, you will get left quick
Thanks for that bit of non sequitur logic, champ.
you determined it was a classic off a few listens?
Not too many real hip hop albums dropped this year. This was pure hip hop.
just dope
Cole will be a long term artist like Biggie, Jay-Z or Nas who grow with their music. Whereas they don’t try to reach back but evolve with their music. This intro announces growth. He is not where he is was 5 years ago and that is reflected.
How was Biggie a long term artist that grew with his music if he died when he was 24
Also, this don’t sound EXACTLY like Cole 5 years ago? I’m a fan of a dude, fan of this song (even though it’s kind of not really a song) and enjoyed his album but how can you say he’s “grown” & “evolved” when he’s been rapping about cheating on his girl/wanting to spend more time with his mom/using classic samples on the production side for years?
I think you are missing my point. In “ready to die” biggie rapped about being hungry and hustling. In “liefe after death” he raps about having money, wearing expensive clothes and being hated because he has money. His music evolved with his surrounding. That is what I meant. Had biggie been alive today, he would be rapping about being grown up with teenage son and daughter like Nas is doing.
Unlike millionaire rappers who still try to convince us they are hustling rocks in the snow for a few dollars in their mid 30s.
Sounding like Friday Night Lights a bit which is my favorite Cole project, i’ll listen to it later today but Cole rarely disappoints.
Word
Cole is the truth go support real shit.
On first listen clearly it is better than his debut and born sinner 4.5/5
Im surprised ppl like the album. Don’t like all the singing in production was boring. I expected alot more.
This album is not just one of the best HipHop albums, but one of the Best Albums I’ve heard in years…
Not to mention this is a pretty dope ass visual. Crazy enough I actually rode my bike through all them same places on my bike when I visited nyc, like through times where I stayed up to that same bmw dealer I passed as I was going to 106 and park. (That building across the street in the video) for those who don’t know. So this video was extra dope to me.
A rich guy pretending to be a poor in a video that cost nothing with horrible color grading where J. Cole looks greener than the hulk. Yes let’s support this because he’s marketed as the “conscious black rapper”.
THAT REMINDS ME OF DUDE THAT SAYS – U ALWAYS SEE LUPE ON A SKATEBOARD, BUT HE’LL TELL U HIMSELF THAT HE HAS A FERRARI WHICH COST MORE THAN THE HOUSE HE WAS RAISED IN… THEY GONNA HATE HIM IF HE FLOSS OR IF HE RELATES – I CA SEE COLE RIDIN A BIKE IN THE CITY – BUT NOT DRIVIN A HONDA – FEEL ME? THERES A LIL BIT OF TRUTH TO EVERYTHING CUZ HE DOES LIVE IN NY
At least Lupe lets us know that he’s actually rich and has a ferrari collection.
LOL… ONE DAY COLE’LL OPEN UP – BUT HE’S JUS STACKIN – HE DON’T SEEM CAUGHT UP ON THAT RIGHT NOW – WALE EVENTUALLY CAVED IN & WENT GOLD HEAVY & ALL THAT – BUT COLE STILL HOLDIN OUT- HE GOT THE HEART OF A STRUGGLE RAPPER LIKE KENDRICK , SO IT’LL B A WHILE B4 THEY SHOW THEM M’S
so you’re mad this guy isn’t talking bout how rich he is? you literally sound dumb as shit lmao
damn.
Can I say…ether?
Just because he’s riding a bike, he’s pretending to be poor? I took it as him being free. Free from materialism that suppose to equate happiness.
DON’T HATE MY SYNOPSIS!!
Lol he’s free from materialism so he drives allllllllll through the city then stops to admire the luxury cars. Ok.
Couldn’t have said it better myself.
yea…..like any other normal person tf are y’all talking about?
LMAO YO I JUST REALIZED U DONT EVEN REALIZE HOW DUMB U ARE, OK ILL LEAVE U ALONE
So who would you support, then?
Someone who doesn’t take advantage of the disenfranchised, the weak, the poor, just to sell fucking albums.
Are you kidding me?! Everyone is entitled to their own opinion for sure, but I’ve watched you comment for 2 days, and the way you’ve contradicted yourself was crazy…So why can’t Cole create (which is what artists do, use creativity) a video, where he’s acting out a situation he probably went through?! How is that taking advantage of the disenfranchised and weak. Yes, it is his job to make money, but at the same time, who said Cole was even flossing like that?!
Just because your on TV, in the news, on the radio, etc doesn’t always guarantee money. Look at The Lox, dudes was everywhere when they first came out, TALKING ABOUT MONEY, CARS, CLOTHES, HOES ETC but was broke, Diddy was holding all their money I kid you not. That’s why they didn’t pop like that commercially, or as much as they could…Bad deals. But yet they were still rapping about the stuff they didn’t own. But now we have an actual artist who’s genuine, doesn’t care about the materialistic things, he makes a video which seems to have some truth to his life to some degree, and instead of you understanding, you look at it in a completely out of context manner.
Not saying you’re wrong because artist do take advantage of certain methods, for their own personal wealth. But not everyone is the same, and you just have to accept the people that actually are trying their best to keep their music relatable. How can you sit there and say ‘At least Lupe let’s us know he has cars worth more than the house he grew up in’ but why does Cole HAVE to admit to that in order for him music to be real. What if he just simply doesn’t have it like you think he does?! No hate tho man..
Yeah you have a point but it seems off to me. It’s like okay if Rick Ross has creative license to portray himself as a drug dealer, J. Cole has creative license to portray himself as a struggling collage kid. That’s fair and should be. BUT it just feels wrong like a corrupt pastor who pretends to be so religious but is asking for donations every two seconds driving a benz and living in a mansion. I also really want to like Cole’s music, and I do listen to every one of his album’s hoping he’ll make something great, but it always completely disappoints me. He’ll have one good song per album though. I also just don’t get what these hardcore Cole fans see in this guy? Because to me he’s just catering to the people that don’t know any better but that just want to have some kind of conscious music. It’s similar to how I feel about Lecrae.
Just because he’s riding a bike, he’s pretending to be poor? I took it as him being free. Free from materialism that suppose to equate happiness.
DON’T HATE MY SYNOPSIS!!!
He’s catering to poor guys on rapradar who’ll feel like “oh J Cole rides his bike, hey I ride my bike too, we’re bike buddies”. It’s such a lame attempt at trying to relate to his audience just to fatten his own pockets and further his own agenda. It’s basically the exact same thing those corrupt pastors do as they pull of in a fancy car to their mansion.
Wtf are you talking about? I don’t ride a bike but I relate to his music. He’s an artist, he’s allowed to use symbolism. And plus rapping is his job. His agenda is to make money. Why do you go to work everyday?
this is true, but who gives a fuck unless you’re an aspiring rapper who failed and missed their time? like do not all rappers strategize in one way or fashion, I’m not the biggest cole supporter, but you look dumb pointing this out, like what point are you trying to make?
…this album better be dope.
is amazing, his best album yet. Only FNL is better but that’s a mixtape!
The rhymes on the album were dope but mannn there was a lot of singing, it was throwing me off
I can’t stand this singing shit by rappers. Let a girl handle that shit or an r&b dude who actually can sing.
Dopeness personified
Some of the stuff on the album reminded me of Mos Def so for all ya’ll saying hes trying to follow Drake by singing, have a seat.
I fuck with this point
He needs to do a video for GOMD. ….i been skipping the intro
Chance the rapper influence?
Stop frontin Nigga know he ain’t happy with bike.
Bes cole album thus far. he’s accepting the fact he can just be him and not fall to the ways of whack music. Drake time is coming real soon if he doesn’t start being humble and get rid of the skrippaz. Kendrick will have longevity signs with Roc nation or an independent who’ll jus let him do music and not worry about the politikal side.
Damn I guess I’m the only one who doesn’t like this album, I thought the production could’ve been upped and he didn’t really do anything new flow wise
And not to mention all that atrocious singing. I don’t have a problem with rappers singing…..when it’s good.
Cant wait to hear it JCole my dog
Polo I’m in agreement with you. The bars and production were both subpar.
I think we need to let this album breathe a bit… That said, man I like a lot of what is going on in terms of composition. So many well done concepts lyric and audio wise, the transition from Tale of 2 Citiez to Fire Squad I think it is… That is unreal. Just speeds it up after that slow saga. Then after Fire Squad he changes pace again. I’m not minding the singing at all, and it’s not like it’s a new look for Cole. He’s been singing since ever. The backup helps too. You can hear so many influences in his style too, from peers to the older generation (one commenter said Mos Def, I can hear it in spots). Love what I’m hearing so far. This deserves multiple listens.
How can you have an opinion when you haven’t had time to digest the album?
