We all knew this was gonna be number one. RZA shit the bed with this one. I gotta commend the rest of the Clan for trying to make those suspect beats listenable though. Somebody tell Bobby to go find an ASR-10 and a crate of records and get it back poppin’ correctly before it’s too late to do another Wu album. The fans deserve more.

Totally disagree , this album is exactly what the 808 fatigued Hiphop culture needed. Live dynamic rocking instrumentation, – so glad they didn’t recycle the same old vintage loops- and the raps are nurturing and full of positivity, this album was perfect, here’s to pushing the art form forward and not backwards.
the magic of the wu is gone to many years have passed the chemistry is not there and plus to this album felt forced when the members feel they could work together for real then we ll get a real album
We all knew it was coming weeks before its release. It was a mess way before that shit dropped…with all the promo going wrong. Shame..
Did anyone think it was gonna be their best album? No, But it’s still way better than half of the albums this year.

It hurt me to listen to the uninspired songs. The beats Wur weak and the bars weren’t coheisve at all jus some rhymes written in a corner while the beat played in the background. Yea Meth came correct and so did a few others however the thing that made Wu dope was how effortlessly they meshed together. U looked forward to hearing the combo of styles in a track and this just sounded so peiced together u cud barely finish a song let alone the whole project.

Shame on yall, the dynamic live instrumentation and nurturing raps were the perfect education for this generation – giving them a ‘better tommorow’. Instead of sampling vintage production, RZA MADE it. This is exactly where the game is at including the live rock vibes of the new Kendrick and Dangelo records. 2014 was the year Hiphop went to live rock instrumentation and this Wu album is exactly where the 808-fatigued culture is at.

From the new live instrumentation on Kanye, Kendrick, and D’angelo records- this dynamic rock education will triumph over the fatigued 808 EDM era. I agree…but here’s the thing. Artists aren’t good at every style. And while I think that stuff like this should be done, it should be done better. More importantly, it should be done by a group that HASN’T cemented itself as the go to choice for grimy loops and narly educated rhymes. Switching lanes is ALWAYS risky. I don’t think this flavour fits their sandwich.

I completely disagree. This album far exceeded my expectations and in a year that I thought was terrible for hip-hop, this was great IMO.
How is Joell Ortiz’s album not top 5 most disappointing?

This shit was a monstrosity. RZA been failing to develop a new style of production that works for years. Some of those preset ass sounding synths on here were terrible and don’t get me started on that damn “Preacherman” cover. This heart my hurt. I used to rock with WTC heavy but it’s been fumbles since Iron Flag.
Some folks are citing and congratulating RZA on experimenting with live instrumentation. I could respect their opinion but I don’t agree with it. I think the live instrumentation in hip hop needs to be done with alittle more finesse. Most of time when rappers try to experiment through rock, and it ends up sounding like something that was done in a very “paint by numbers” kind of way – meaning amature hour. RZA is going about wu tang’s legacy in the wrong way. He needs to cleanse his palette and return. To what made him one of the most creditable producers in the game: sampling and keyboards with grit appeal. I mean, don’t get me wrong, but incorporating guitars and live drums into your arsenal isn’t bad, but it sounds like they just picked up those instruments over night. Heck, I heard high school bands that play better than the shit on this album. Wu-tang can’t be forever if the head of the clan is letting Quentin Tarantino gas his head up about being a filmmaker.
They attempted to make something different, can’t be mad at that. These are grown men in they 40s what you expect. Ill never turn my back on the Wu their message has always been the same since the beginning.
