First of all, the way most people react to music is more a product of socialization than personal invention. So, there is no “weird” way of reacting to music. One reacts to music the way one feels most comfortable.
The head bop is in hip hop is a collective habit not an only way to react to hip hop. In the 80s and 90s it was not unusual to find people full out dancing (almost fully acrobatically) to music at this tempo.
