  5. el jim chapo guzman says:

lol I pay 5 bucks a month with my student discount for spotify. Why would I want to pay double for much less music?

    1. NYComicBookGuy says:

I was thinking the same thing.

      1. el jim chapo guzman says:

        Lol HA!

    2. Dame Damn says:

Errrhhh because as artists start shifting their catalogues away from Spotify (due to poor compensation) to Tidal, the songs you love will no longer be available on Spotify. Pretty simple.

      1. yorapper says:

That assumes the artist have the power to do that. The labels actually control where their music ends up and they wont take their music off Spotify it has 65 million users. Tidal doesn’t even have 1% of that. So it doesn’t matter how much Tidal pays because they don’t have the users.

Btw Tidal only pays double what Spotify when a user whose paying $20 a month listen to a song, Tidal pays the same amount as Spotify for their $10 a month plan.

        1. Dame Damn says:

Where did you get your specifics from?

          1. Bret The Hitman Fucking Hart says:

People be just making up shit lol

          2. Dame Damn says:

You know the drill. Can’t even have respectful, honest conversation on hip hop sites. People just make up shit to justify their beliefs that they swear are facts.

          3. Bret The Hitman Fucking Hart says:

We was arguing in the barbershop about this shit yesterday. I don’t even know why I bothered smh.

          4. yorapper says:

There’s this nifty website called Google.

        2. tipp0183 says:

that alternative is better than no alternative and artist will give incentives to make there listeners get that deluxe option. its not fool-proof by any means but its a step in a progressive direction.

      2. el jim chapo guzman says:

Pretty simple: yeah right’ Let’s just wait and see.

        1. Dame Damn says:

I agree. We’ll soon find out.

          1. el jim chapo guzman says:

            Lol TRILLZ

      3. tipp0183 says:

        finally a smart person

    3. tipp0183 says:

you don’t have to, its just another streaming outlet! Why do people get so besides themselves when its a black rapper that starts a business venture. Tidal will compete with Spotify and because Tidal gives more money and creative control directly to the artist, it is likely that artist will release their music strictly to the outlets that offer them these type of content streaming deals. If you were a new artist wouldn’t you want to stream your music on an outlet that gives you a bigger return? When bigger artist start moving, the fans will follow, hence the reason Jay got the biggest in each genre to co-sign Tidal.

      1. el jim chapo guzman says:

No thanks. I’m satisfied with Spotify and Pandora

    4. Bruce Wayne says:

you stupid spik spotifys quality pales in comparison to tidals lossless quality

  6. Guest says:

DON’T BE FOOLED!!!! THE REAL QUESTION IS WHAT’S IN IT FOR JAY?!!

    1. tipp0183 says:

Money nigga its still a business! Jay Z aint running a charity. You think Rapradar doesn’t profit off of your retarded comments? Advertisements are what make the site profitable. if you no one comments on the posts then the site will loose money because advertisers will stop advertising due to lack of traffic. #Sleep

      1. Brian B.Dot™ Miller says:

        LOL

  7. Mr.A$AP says:

Anyone know what kind of shirt hov is wearing (Best seen in last video)?

  8. Mr. Rogers says:

Here are the benefits to the listers, and the justification of paying:

    1) You will have access to high-definition sound quality. Hear music the way artists intended for you to hear it.
    2) You will have access to behind-the-scenes video. Watch artists in the process of creating an album, possibly in live-time, and help them shape the music.
    3) You will have access to album listenings before the rest of the public.
    4) You will have access to discounted concert tickets and secret concert locations.
    5) You will have access to premium, innovative music – because the platform is ad-free and not tainted by marketing influence. The music on Tidal will be extremely unique and innovative.

The only benefit that Jay-Z & Co. have harped on is #1. Numbers 2-5 can be teased out in his interview with Fader. I feel that if they waited a little bit longer for the rest of the benefits to be realized, providing immediate value to the listeners, there wouldn’t be as much backlash, and people would be happy to pay for the $9.99. But since those other features are still under development, it’s hard to see the rationale behind the cost.

    1. bettie says:

Most young people listen to music on youtube for free according to studies. They use youtube more than any other streaming service so youtube is his biggest competitor.

Also, the biggest problem with artists not being compensated are the labels… not Spotify.

The artists are paid 6.8 perent by Spotify but labels get over 45 percent and over 70 percent after taxes
