Saturday fight night was brought to you by SMACK and URL and their ‘Summer Madness 5’. Above is last night’s main event between Harlem’s Lux and Clips. Fight!
First round Clips, 2nd round is debatable but I edge it to Lux, last round Lux left earth. I’m a fan of both, but Lux had Clips on the ropes.
2-1 either way…no clear body. Clips lost that 3rd clearly but 1st and 2nd could go either way.
This battle actually shows how talented Mook really is because it proves the point he made about Lux with that flip flopping….Called Calico and his Pops lost niggas for hustling. Than Criticized Clips for working and not hustling.

You right I stand corrected…. Just felt like Mooks was more personal because they had a relationship so the breakdown was more memorable IMO.
I don’t think he was criticizing clips for not hustling, he was criticizing him for constantly portraying an image that he isn’t. The thing I noticed about Lux’s approach to battles, is he’ll focus on one main flaw of his opponent and build on it throughout the three rounds…going the hardest in the third to bring it to a close. With clips, it’s that he’s a fraud. If you re-watch his third you’ll hear lux sum up his main point he tries to make, that clips uses his dad’s life for street credibility, but at the end of the day that’s not who he is
I got Lux 2-1 taking the 2nd and 3rd but I wasn’t overly impressed.. More impressed than the Hollow battle but still not as impressive as it should’ve been. What I did learn is that Lux can’t go disappear for another year or 2 because he’s losing his mystique. Plus, he’s competition are coming off battles that help shape ppls perspective of their performance. He doesn’t create a rhythm with the culture or even himself by only battleship once every year in a half. And since Hollow used that Jay Z “Blueprint 2 Nas diss” angle on him it leaves him at a disadvantage. Every nigga he battles will just continue the trend that Hollow started and Lux will be competing against his Calicoe performance that in reality *can’t be beat*. It’s like the “illmatic” curse if there is one. People will forever compare you to a classic that you or anyone can never duplicate. But his competitors will only reference those few battles which creates a biased view on any of he’s angles going forward. So in my opinion he has to battle Verb or Daylyt.. Probably in that order because if he don’t he may just walk into a haymaker the next time he battles. You can’t keep eating off your old old shit, and people are anticipating he’s demise more & more and it shows every battle since Hollow. Lux “technically” which means lyrical skill, respect, iconic status and longevity is the Greatest in the culture bit he has flaws. And if don’t start thinking smarter he will fall!

Exactly, I respect Hollows skill but they gas him crazy. Not a fan people say Hollow won like its gospel but I thought Lux beat him. First watch it was a toss up,second Lux close win, third watch, and every one after clear win for Lux. One thing Lux does better than anyone, his bars hold up over ttime and have great replay value. Clips kind of the opposite his bars are most effective in the moment.

The reason I said Verb or Daylyt is Chilla Jones asked Battle rap fans who Lux should battle next and many said those 2. Lux got into a debate with Verb over them possibly battling early this year. As well as Daylyt having history with Lux and being the fan favorite to face Lux. Imo, I would battle Verb then Daylyt in that order because he matches well against Verb but it would still be entertaining and him and daylyt off just hype alone would be heavy shit. If he would battle someone like Tay Roc after walking away for a year with the points I said in the prior post I honestly believe he would get bodied *not technically maybe* but by rhythm and circumstances. With Tay Roc recent success, Lux debatable performances and matchup I wouldn’t put my money on Lux at all. And Lux is the GOAT!

Clips won the first round. Loaded lux came out on top in the 2nd. Clips automatically lost the 3rd when he admitted he got exposed. 2-1 Lux

The way I see it, Lux had 3 solid rounds… Clips had 2, his 3rd round the crowd was still charged off the paperwork and you can see Clips was a lil “emotional” after that… I see people saying Lux talks about other niggaz fathers, to me that’s all fair game, it’s all a part of battle rap… You got cats like Calico who bring up their “Pops” as some big time gangsta and Lux just flips the script on that whole subject… If you think about it, Lux did to Clips what Mook did to Lux… What Mook did to Lux is what Hollow tried to do but Mook did it better… What Lux did to Clips is what T Rex tried to do but Lux did it better… Overall I thought it was a good battle, both are my favorite two in battle rap… I think Lux edged this one… Another thing, I don’t think imitating or mocking Lux is gonna get you a win. If you pay attention, Lux addresses that in his first round… And what does Clips do in his 2nd round, THE PREDICTABLE, smh… Was it funny, yes… Was it enough to get him the win, absolutely not… Lux just told everybody what your game plan was…
Lux does that a lot I call them prebuttals. Did it in Hollow battle too guesses your game plan and references it in his rounds.
I wouldn’t say he does it a lot because he doesn’t have that many battles (since Calico anyway)… Not for nothing, Lux didn’t even have to mention his game plan, you already know… They all recycle each other’s shit…

I don’t be watching too many Smack/URL battles but whenever I catch them I always become a fan of the challenger, that battle was arguably close, but I gotta give the advantage to Charlie, he seemed a lot more poised on the stage than Lux
Lux got bodied. He had no crowd reaction. He comes off as a discussion in rhyme form but in a bad way. It was not entertaining. Has a stage presence still but his bars aren’t clever. He had content but his creative skills were dead in this battle. The battle was over when Clips did the Nick Nack Patty Wack bar from the movie.
That dude murdered Lux. Way more crowd reaction and just timely bars. Threw memes and current events in there too!
