Yasiin Bey was arrested at Cape Town International Airport yesterday after presented an unrecognized passport when attempting to leave the country.
According to the Home of Home Affairs, the rapper who has lived in Cape Town since 2013, overstayed his permit and had two weeks to leave the country. Says spokesperson Mayihlome Tshwete:
Mr Smith came into SA with a legitimate US passport but since overstayed his visitors permit. Mr Smith was departing SA using a “World Passport”, SA does not recognise a “World Passport”. The Department Of Home Affairs has given Mr Smith and his family 14 days to leave the republic .
So he was arrested for trying to leave and his punishment is that he has to leave? That makes about as much sense as Big Homie’s grammar on this post!
