#VIEWS
Drake may be putting a limit on interviews, but ahead of the release of his Views, The Boy sat with Zane Lowe on Apple Music’s OVO Sound Radio last night. He spoke on the creating process with producer “40”, relationship with Nicki Minaj, chemistry with Rihanna, Birdman and Lil Wayne feud, Tory Lanez, the idea of a project with Kanye West, the “Pop Style” feature confusion, success of “Hotline Bling”, the Weeknd and much more. Views is available on iTunes now.
UPDATE: Now with video
Young Money
Views is kinda weak, and I fux w/ Drake.
20 tracks is a bit too much. Should have trimmed it down. I’ll give a few more spins, maybe it’ll grow on me.
Yeah man felt the same way but definitely going to give it a chance. Can’t judge an album straight away especially when it hasn’t even been 24 hours
Cosign! 13 records max IMO. 20 is a bit much to digest and usually consists of way too many fillers. Just a thought
Albums trash! The Drake fans know its trash but they will defend it to save face!
FUCK THIS SHIT!! R&B ALBUM!! MAYBE POP!! ONE THING IS FOR SURE: THIS IS NOT HIP HOP!! THIS STUFF FOR PUSSIES!!
FUCK YOUR OPINION!!
Elliot>Zane.
Only heard the lp once, the beats are nice-a little grit thrown in. Big up 40. DMX samples.
the hype behind Views had not lived up to expectations.
Views did not live up to expectations, it wasn’t even a rap album, it had nothing to do with Toronto, the same subject matter of his last two projects, it just makes no sense to me. Drake had the chance to change the game with this album and he fucking flopped. Conversations about him being the best rapper are way out the room. Dude is a full time pop star now
More of an attempt at an R&B album IMO. The only setback is that Drake has never had the vocal range of an R&B artist. With that being said it is what it is. Exactly what you’d expect from a Drake album – 2.7/5
To be fair, nobody is singing with much vocal range because R&B is dead as far as from a male perspective. Adele is really the only one really singing like that. Drake is an R&B singer but I don’t think he’s trying to go all out with it. He puts a rapper swag on his singing shit.
Fair assessment. Miguel and BJ the Chicago Kid are still carrying the torch as well but others may disagree
There are others for sure but Drake’s in his own lane because he’s both singer and rapper.
I don’t know about that, Mcfly. BJ the Chicago Kid has a pretty dope R&B record out. So does OVO’s Dvsn. The problem w/ R&B is not so much the artists it’s the record labels. It’s almost like no one wants to push these acts nowadays.
The labels can push music but if people don’t want it, then they just don’t want it. Alot of people just don’t want no R&B right now. They want Pop, EDM and Hip Hop. I said R&B is dead and maybe I’m wrong idk, I just say that because I don’t hear or see a big interest in the streets for R&B music. The labels can do whatever but the streets (the culture) has to put the interest back into R&B until then you gonna hear this new form of singing which is singing with a rapper’s swag connected to do it. Drake being as popular as he is only drives that style even more in the culture.
U r right and that’s sad. This generation has no appreciation for R&B. It’s turn up 24/7.
not true. u obviusly dont look for r&b. people arent buying r&b that doesnt mean that its dead. black people dont buy music lets be honest marty. that doesnt mean its dead. money in general is in touring for artists these days. when it comes to r&b you have to take into account white supremacy and colorism. Adele is only selling because shes fat and white. Jazmine sullivan can sing circles around adele but sells next to nothing and thats black peoples fault as well as colorism in the industry.
No I don’t “look” for R&B because imo its dead. No black people don’t buy music and neither do whites, mexicans, asians, etc… BILLIONS of songs are listened to online and just a small percentage of that is bought across the board. Now white people still buy alot of that small percentage but that makes sense because they got the money to buy music. Black people are busy either making the music or paying they bills so no they aint buying no music. If the only reason that Adele is selling is because she’s fat and white? That aint my fault. If black people aint buying Jazmine Sullivan’s records its probably cause they just don’t want to. You can not force people to buy records anymore. Plus with Beyonce out here, black people aint checking for no Jazmine Sullivan. Whatever’s going on in the industry aint black people’s fault either. Black people fuck with the streets not the “industry”. Direct your opinions at white people cause black people got other concerns to deal with besides buying songs from Jazmine Sullivan.
my point is that just because YOU dont like R&B doesnt mean its dead. We can agree to disagree but the “reason” you disagree is what im focusing on. You cant say “r&b is dead cuz i dont look for it” thats like saying meat doesnt exist because Im a vegetarian. And you STILL are ignoring the fact that the industry is affected by colorism, racism, so on and so forth. If R&B was dead then Adele nor Justin Bieber would be selling records would they? “Black people fuck with the streets not the industry” makes no sense.
I’m not saying R&B is dead simply because I personally aint checking for it. You reduced it to simply whether or not I personally check for it. Now if the industry is affected by colorism and racism? What you want me to do about the shit? What the “industry” does aint my fault. I think yeah if R&B is dead then yeah they mega stars like Adele and Justin Bieber would still sell records. That don’t mean a bunch of other artists will sell just cause they most popular ones are. Yeah black people fuck with the streets not the industry cause how many black people you know that call the shots at record companies, radio and Tv? Ok then.
Again you need to direct what you saying at white people. Black people do not run the business end of the “industry” to a degree in which they can decide who’s getting play and who’s not.
im not blaming anyone im simply stating facts homie. black people gotta put money back into our own culture. just being honest.
You said black people don’t buy music and Jazmine Sullivan doesn’t sell like Adele and thats black people’s fault.
are we gonna act like its not? White people(and other races) play a part of course HOWEVER it aint always up to other cultures and races to appreciate our own culture and race. Dog be real here. Do black people put money into our own culture and music? Do we ?
Again black people got other concerns then what Jazmine Sullivan is doing. Now you take the music business which is about 90-95% of it is music bought by whites, and the other races (latino asian, arab etc…), ran by white people and someone like Adele who likely has a multi million dollar recording budget and because Jazmine Sullivan aint selling as much, thats black people’s fault? No
Again do black people control the music/entertainment business? NO. So do black people call the shots in terms of who and what artists get the most play? No.
There are multiple reasons why white people spend more money on things like music then black people do.
You talking alot of shit about black people as well in your other comments. First of all you don’t know who’s black or white in these comment sections. 2nd It should not be surprising that on a site which mostly posts Hip Hop music that it aint a bunch of super Drake fans like you here.
*sigh* no one is “talking shit” about black people. I love my people and my culture. Wouldn’t trade it for the world. But that don’t mean i gotta walk around naive and foolish like you all do. Every tie someone is educated on what theyre talking about doesnt mean theyre a stan or a super fan.
No you talking shit. In one of your comments you said “God I hate you all” so if you love your people then stop talking like a crab nigga. You assume the people you talking to are foolish or uneducated about what they talking about? That assumption is the sign of a foolish person.
breh, im talking about the obviously stupid shit i see in these comments. never did i say that i was smarter than anyone but im just being honest. 95% of the comments is dumb shit and a lot of comments from ppl who dont know what tf they are talking about. and yeah i do hate them all. i hate people who think its ok to just say dumb shit. that wasnt aimed at any one race homie.
Nah you talking shit. You put your comments in a context specifically to black people. Stop talking like a crab nigga.
ok so now im a crab? ur right i dont specifically know whos what race but are u literally gonna act like u dont see the blatant bullshit in these comments homie? i said “especially” black men and its the truth. dont take it personal just learn from the shit.
I said talking like a crab and you said especially black men because of some comments you saw? Now you take those comments as the representation of all black men? Aint alot of the popular R&B sung by black men? Yes. If you on a site that mostly posts Hip Hop music, don’t you think you getting the opinions of Hip Hop fans? Of course so don’t b surprised that you don’t see alot of R&B fans on RAP Radar.
Nah son im taking into account what I see on a general basis, in real life and on the blogs. And if Im generalizing then Im wrong for that.
Yeah you are wrong for that so stop taking what you see in a comment section and painting black people with that brush. The shit you see in real life goes alot deeper then some fucking music. The reason black people aint just rushing to support music is because they likely are dealing with way more important issues.
That’s no reason to walk around silent. I’m not necessarily painting anyone with a single brush. You can’t tell me that you don’t notice what I notice. Black people dealing with one thing doesn’t mean they have to be uneducated about the next thing that’s ridiculous.
Yes it does, niggas dealing with real life so not too many are gonna be concerned with whatever the fuck Jazmine Sullivan is doing.
ok nigga let the jazmine shit go it was an example. and what does
‘real life’ have to do with being stupid?
You too stupid to realize whats being said. Again who makes more money in america? White people or black people? Who on average is more financially stable and has the disposable income to buy music whenever they feel like it? So if you go ask a white person and a black person about Adele and Jazmine Sullivan or any R&B music? You may have a conversation with the white person but the black person will likely say ‘I aint got to time to be concerned with no music cause I’m trying to get some money”… THAT means black people are likely more concerned with more important issues concerning economics then whatever the fuck Jazmine Sullivan (R&B music) is doing.
excuse
Who makes more money in america? White people or black people?
ur right. whites do. Does that dictate where they choose to spend it my guy? nah.
BINGO white people. So across the board, on average do white people spend more money on the things they want? Which includes music? YES.
cool stry bro
The shit shoulda been common sense.
collstorybro
excuses excuses
Stupidity stupidity
Who has more money in america? White people or black people? So is it surprising that more white people buy Adele then black people buy Jazmine Sullivan? No
ok but that doesnt equal to rnb being dead that equals to racism and colorism. my original point.
So point that anger at white people. They are the pioneers of racism and colorism and they run the music business as well. Not black people. R&B is dead because Hip Hop came in and blew its head off.
excuse as if white people are the only ones perpetuating shit.
Who has perpetuated racism more in america thus far? White people or black people? Now if you go into a board meeting with the top heads of the music/entertainment business and you see a room full of white people in it? Who controls the music/entertainment business? White people or black people?
Thats the difference between the way you think about it and the way i think about it. Youre always weighing bullshit between two extremes. I dont care who perpetuates it more homie. I care that its perpetuated so when i speak on it i dont need u defending it and making excuses because YOURE personally offended.
Again when you talk racism or colorism? That is an AMERICAN culture that was built into america by WHITE people. What you see from black people is the REACTION to it in the place they live which is america. When Katy Perry and Taylor Swift come on Tv and black people are like why the fuck they always getting a platform? Its simple, black people do NOT decide what goes on in the entertainment business for the most part just like black people do not decide what degree racism is at in america.
cool stry fam
look…when it all comes down to it the majority of these comments are coming from people of color and to be honest i dont expect white people to understand something they arent a part of but i fully expect black to. maybe i sound like a dick, maybe im a little critical, but i have high standards for my culture and the people of my race sp excuse me if im generally disappointed on a regular basis with the type of shit people say on AND OFF social media.
That also is a foolish assumption. White people consume about triple the amount of Hip Hop that black people do so when you on a Hip Hop site and you reading comments, to assume its mostly black people leaving racially charged or homophobic comments is not an intelligent assumption. It sounds like the “standards” you hold black people to are the kinda standards white people expect of black people (but not themselves). but fuck white people and their expectations. What you see from black people in alot of regards is the REACTION to circumstances that already exists due to black people’s condition under a mostly white ran power structure.
u making excuses
Its true. Niggas aint gonna be concerned with buying a Jazmine Sullivan record if they concerned with how they gonna keep the lights on at home. White people can just buy whatever new music is coming out that week because they don’t have the same economic concerns.
I get what youre saying as far as struggles go but that doesnt dictate the fact that white people having the money arent spending it on black artists and neither are black people who have the moeny
No you don’t get it because if you got it you wouldn’t be talking. If you ask a black person why they not buying a large portion of the music they listen to? They likely say I can’t AFFORD to do that.
cool
Who makes more money in america? White people or black people? THAT answer will tell you who buys more music.
Who makes more money has nothing to do with where the money goes
Yes it does because that answer to that question means there are times when one has money in their pocket and the other does NOT.
a white person having more money to spend DOESNT MEAN THAT THEY ARE SPENDING IT ON MUSIC.
Yes it does. If I have more money then you and we both walk in a record store? I have more purchasing power then you. So when the music business sees that white people are buying triple the amount of Hip Hop then black people are? Its not that black people don’t appreciate Hip Hop just as much, what it is is that white people have more money to spend on average going in the record store (or online) then black people.
oh cool
Yeah, oh cool… Smh
cool homie
excuses
You say its excuses cause your a fool. You want black people to purchase music at the same rate as white people without considering there is a huge cap in economics between the two.
When you look at these comments you don’t see misogyny? You don’t see homophobia? You don’t see colorism? The majority of these comments are coming from within black culture especially on sites like rap radar or hot new hip hop or world star hip hop and that website ain’t even about hip hop. Be real here dude.
Again, you don’t know what the race of the other person is reading these comments. 2nd when you talk about misogyny, homophobia, colorism (racism) etc… Thats an AMERICAN culture. That aint just confined to black people. Go somewhere where white people leave comments at and you’ll see these things so it aint just black culture, its the whole country of america and everybody in it culture.
I know it aint just white culture my guy stop telling me to be quiet about it just because there are other races doing it. stop making it seem like im bullying black people.
I don’t know what your doing but you talking about black people specifically and the shit you talking about aint just confined to black people. Especially if you talking about some racism shit? White people are the EXPERTS at that… Not black people.
At this point youre defending the shit i go against and making excuses for it. So lets put it this way, regardless of race sexuality skintone etc, certain comments and points of view that i see are unacceptable. period. And when it comes to rap radar, rap up, hotnewhiphop, etc. the comments i see are 9/10 disgusting. but this is a real life issue not restricted to the blogs and social media. as a black person i feel the need to speak on what i know as a black person because i know my own culture enough to do so. I know that the average black person thinks a certain way. its just the truth. black culture is homophobia, racism, colorism(not the same as racism homie), misogyny, amongst other serious issues that need dissection. its just the truth. no shade.
Yeah you know about black culture but you don’t know much about white culture because if you did you would see white people have embedded racism, homophobia, colorism, misogyny etc… In american culture. Black people in america live in a society of those things that is held in place by the power structure of america. You wanna talk about racism? Go look at white people’s history in america before you talk about black people perpetuating in it.
where the issues stem from is irrelevant. everybody and they mama know white people started all this shit. what does that have to do with actually stopping it?
Saying where the issue stems from is irrelevant is like saying the roots of a tree are irrelevant to the branches or cancer is irrelevant to somebody who’s dying from it.
i dont care dude.
Then shut your mouth and stop talking like a crab or an uncle tom.
*sigh*
As far as homophobia is concerned? Black people should not really agree with homosexuality imo because that way of life came into Africa through invasion. Beforehand black people would’ve considered homosexuality as unnatural and going against the trinity which in African spirituality was MAN, WOMAN and CHILD. Its not in black people’s spirit to cosign gay shit. That came in through invasions.
Alright u know what…this comment just did it for me. whatever u say man. whatever u say. *snaps laptop in fucking half*
Yeah, black people should NOT agree with homosexuality.
cool story ankh
The “Ankh” is also a symbol that goes against homosexuality. Its an African symbol of “life” and the union between man and woman to make children. Faggots can’t do that.
cool story ankh
I know fool, you should learn from it and keep your mouth shut next time.
lol so here we have it. u a ankh nigga. let me guess u love the wombman too dontcha hhaaaahahahaah
Yeah here we have it, a crab nigga that loves whitey so much he hates his own…
After all this you think I love white people? I ankh niggas is stupid as they come.
Well you hate black people enough to make several comments generalizing black people as a whole. I’d say you sure act like you love white people. You think the roots of racism is irrelevant to the outcome of it. Sounds like a cracker loving nigga to me.
Nah b it’s clear your comprehension skills are sub par.
“ankh niggas”? So even the ancestors of black people can get disrespected from you… Crab
No not my ancestors YOU.
No nigga. You said “ankh niggas” cause you feel a way about black people as a whole to the point where you’ll throw sacred symbols into the mix to disrespect even the history, culture and spiritual science of black people. Thats deep. You really got gay peoples back (pause). LOL
So wait you think every black person support that ankh shit? No they don’t and they don’t have to in order to be “good enough” of a black person. You ankh pussies are a joke to the rest of the black community with all that “eye” and “womb” bullshit. No one likes yall but yall. Everybody appreciates Africa for what it is and yall just focus on kemet and Egypt looking stupid. Fuck outta here.
I’m gone bitch but damn a nigga that disrespects his own to the degree of throwing out “ankh niggas” is deep. The Ankh wasn’t just a simple in Egypt either by the way, it was a symbol all around Africa but enough has been said to you already. Bitch never disrespect your own people and your own ancestors. Bitch.
Yet another emotionally charged comment. You got so much to say about drake but you soft af. I don’t disrespect African culture or the ankh. I disrespect corny ankh nigga like YOU. I repeat YOU my nigga. You corny. Hating gay people don’t make u ethnic my nigga. Hating gay people don’t make you more in touch with anything spiritual. You just hateful.
Its not emotional and no I don’t have much to say about Drake because if you read and understood my comments you would see there aint much there about Drake. You did disrespect African culture and you disrespected black people and for that your a special kinda crab. You went beyond ME in several comments and spoke on black people… You say hating gay people don’t make me more in touch with spirituality? First of all I don’t “hate” them. I “disagree” with homosexuality. 2nd in terms of spirituality, I’d say nature (including humans) is one of the creators greatest expressions of itself. Now if nature itself did not design men to fuck other men and reproduce life? Then me saying thats unnatural is alot more in touch with spirituality then homos that think otherwise.
You all run to that same “procreation” argument. Duh they can’t reproduce captain obvious. Me defending them as people is not going against black people and African culture. It’s gong against niggas like you. You think you’re so above and beyond with this whole”expression ” bullshit. Lol put a lid on it my nigga.
Oh no, it goes beyond just procreation… Thats just the most obvious indication the nature itself does not cosign homosexuality. You did go against black people, the context, premise and finger pointing to your foolish argument was directed specifically at black people in defense of gay shit and on top of that you did disrespect black people as a race in several comments and African culture as well. You called me a “ankh nigga” with a bunch of negative shit to say… I don’t think I’m above nature itself. I did not create humanity but I do know nature did NOT intent for homos to be fucking each other. You going against your own people and nature itself on behalf of homosexuality is quite a reach for someone claiming not to be a homo yourself. You fighting harder then they can. Any faggot with common sense should hang his head in shame once particular arguments are made because the fact they can’t reproduce isn’t my fault. Thats the design of “God” itself.
Black people accepting homosexuality is just as sick if not more then accepting white Jesus. Both of these things were NOT accepted by black people until they were FORCED to accept it by invaders.
Your colorism argument was equally as stupid. You say colorism isn’t racism but its definitely two branches off the same tree. Go back in history and look at what race of people embedded racial discrimination in america. Was it black people? No you dumb fuck so that fact niggas aint buying Jazmine Sullivan records aint because of colorism, its because they just don’t wanna her music.
Lol dog u still on this
You can stfu any time you feel like it bitch because just coming back to ask me if I’m still on this? Means YOU still on it dumbass.
You the fucking Braveheart of homos in shit. LOL
Are yall done or yall finished
First off YOU brought up the ankh when you said “cool story ankh”. Now maybe you meant something else idk but since YOU brought up the word “ankh” and you was talking some homophobic shit, then I just said well ok the “ankh” symbol also goes against homosexuality. Now if that makes me an “ankh nigga” then whatever but you brought it up not me. If me telling black people about their own history in an aspect that many of them do not know and that makes me an “ankh nigga”? Its better then going around talking about how mad I am at them for not accepting a gay lifestyle which is partly why you mad at black people.
You just keep saying the same tired argument over and over and over again. The cognitive dissonance is ridiculous here.
That was a stupidass comment considering several of yours vs mine. Smh
my mouth was never open homie i been typin fam hahhahah
You got the point bitch.
Yo mama a bitch
But your a male bitch. The kinda man that takes offense to homophobia even when he aint gay himself. #Man bitch
Ooh good one
Keep em coming you ankh pussy
I’d rather be talking about the love of pussy then you talking in defense of homosexuality.
Ooh good one ankh u mudda haffi love u now?
I know its a good one because you brought up homophobia without there even being a reason for it. You ready to wave a rainbow flag for homos against your own race and you not even gay. You react like a faggot though.
Defending an oppressed group isn’t going against another oppressed group you fucking derelict.
Yet the context of your defense of gay people was directed at black people for being homophobic. You made several comments going at black people for reasons why your upset and disappointed and looking for fault and part of that stems from how homos are viewed. You may not be gay but you willing to fight for them like a flamming faggot though.
You’re so stuck on homophobia which makes me think you might be projecting inner desires onto my personality. I have also said that misogyny and colorism were of my main issues within my community. But for some reason you keep trying to use homosexuality against me. At this point I don’t get what you’re upset about. Lol
YOU brought up homophobia and you did it several times before I addressed it. So I’m not stuck on what YOU brought up as part of the basis for why you mad and disappointed and finding fault in black people. Its not that I’m trying to use homosexuality against you. YOU brought the shit up. I addresses misogyny and colorism as well, all of which YOU brought up several times so I addressed it several times. The aspect of homophobia that I also address is how you mad enough to go at black people over homo shit and then say you aint a homo? I said well your sure upset like one. That also references how you say you love black people but at the same time you got alot of negative comments and generalizations to say about black people and how niggas are to blame for a bunch of different shit (that exists at a level ten times higher by white people and the overall culture of america period)… I’m saying you may not be a cracker but you sure think like one.
You ready to go at black people as a race over homophobia, you projecting your own sick mentality. I said homo shit is unnatural and black people should not cosign it. Don’t get these comments twisted. I aint talking like you with your gay avenger rainbow freedom fighter ass.
No it’s not over homophobia. I don’t know why out of all the issues you’re choosing to focus on homosexuality. But if that’s what helps you sleep at night then hey.
Because you brought it up several times fuknigga. I addressed it afterwards but the fact you willing to attack your own for not accepting faggotry makes you a super crab and a lost nigga that might as well go suck a dick cause you fight over how gays are treated as if that got something to do with you? Man bitch
And then you got the nerve to hash tag it fuck outta here
Yeah your a man bitch. A man thats so upset over homophobia that he’s going at black people as a whole for not being more accepting of homos. Smfh
The “wombman” that have birth to ya pussy clot should be murda
Your mother gave birth to a wannabe cracker that claims to not be gay but is offended by homophobia. #Man bitch
Is that the best you can come up with? Get ya clap back game up hoe.
fam you really need the last word lmfaooooo
He made the last comment.
You mad corny ankh nigga
Just your repeated use of “ankh nigga” demonstrates how you really feel about black people. Its some deep hatred in your case, you a giant crab.
So I have a deep hatred for black people simply because you can’t come up with anything better to say? Ok.
I don’t need to say anything “better” to say what has been said. You own comments only give proof of what I said about you. Thats more then enough.
My comments don’t prove your point because they are not clouded by my emotions like yours are pussyclaat.
Oh yes they do. Everything I said you were saying in your comments is there in your comments.
Ya mudda pumpum rasclat!!!!! God haffi murda u mudda hahahahah
its funny u think im gay now u mad aggressive all of a sudden lmao u just a stupid nigga like the rest of em
No where in my comments did I say you were gay. YOU made a comment about “homophobia”? So since you wanna speak on homo shit then my reply is I think black people should not cosign homosexuality so in turn gay people will say thats being “homophobic”. Ok then so be it.
Now you saying I’m stupid “like the rest of em”, well thats the response of a uncle tom and imo crabs and uncle toms should be killed “like the rest of them”.
i didnt say u said it. i can tell the minute you thought u had a weakness u tried to attack it lol ur a fuckin ham
You said “its funny you think I’m gay”… Again no where in my comments did I say or imply or suggest that I thought you were gay. Your weakness is the stupidity of arguing what was never said in the first place.
God you’re a fucking idiot.
If you not a fag then don’t speak for faggots.
the comments get more and more remedial. cant expect nothin less from a nigga
And thats why your a crab so don’t talk about your love for black people if your an uncle tom with the mentality of a cracker. Fuck you and your whitey based, white people indoctrinated expectations of niggas.
You’re trying so hard. So get ya stupid ankh shit outta here.
aight you only proving his point now smh
I proved his point is full of shit. He wanna blame black people for why Jazmine Sullivan aint selling like Adele because niggas are homophobic and racists against black singers? No nigga No
I think a straight person speaking on behalf of homosexuals is a person that doesn’t know how to stay in their lane. As a straight man I would never go against my own race to fight over how gay people are treated. I get it so some degree but I aint gonna turn around and say fuck black people for thinking homosexuality is wrong. I aint gonna disrespect my black ancestors because they did not agree with the gay lifestyle. Thats taking the rainbow flag too damn far.
willy lynch left behind some real bullshit that needs to be worked out of our community and the world as a whole. u crazy to think the issues black people face stretch only to the borders of american culture. theres more than one way to attack this shit. White people add what they add, black people add what they add, asians, so on and so forth.
I didn’t say they only go to the borders of america. You just did. White people and black people IN AMERICA do not ADD the same amount of racism to the culture.
cool
Yeah so next time before you talking about the “culture” of black people? In terms of racial issues, business and homophobia? First look at the “culture” of the entire country and every race in it…
coolstoryhomie
you’re an idiot if you think most of these people are black, almost all hiphop blogs are full of suburban white kids fam
I said what I said.
and i said that you’re an idiot, whats your point?
My point is that 99.9 percent of rap radar are complete morons you being one of them. Your mothers should be ashamed of what yah niggas have become. “You’re an idiot of you think most people are really black on rap radar” what does that have to do with the fact that black men are generally misogynistic homophobic colorist fools? And the comments directly reflect what I’m telling to you cognitively dissonant ass holes. Not all black men. The MAJORITY. If you don’t believe me then go look at any nicki post. Or Beyoncé post. Pure idiocy. What’s worse is that yall continuously twist my argument and boil it down to a point that I never made. Each and every one of your are acting like how white people act when someone tells them about white supremacy and privilege. That’s why I hate you all. Not black people but white people and niggas like YOU is who I hate.
As far BJ? He cool but imo he sounds too close to D’Angelo.
So Chris,Tank,BJ,Anderson Paak,Miguel aren’t singing R&B ???
I don’t know what they do. Hip Hop’s too busy making better records then they do. If they are singing, I bet they throw alot of Hip Hop swag into it.

Flop? Not sure how you can digest 16 songs (-4 for the singles) in less than a day.
The weakest song was the one with PartyNextDoor. Every song on that album had a solid beat, great mixing and Drake did a good job of filling the lyrical pockets.
40 did a great job mixing samples in a unique way. This is a good album. You mfs wanna turn up all the gotdamn time yet shit on Migos/Young Thug and Rae Sremmurd. Ya’ll bitch just to bitch.
NO this album sucked because its fucking rnb album. Why the fuck would drake put this much attention on a pop album. Niggas like you are why hip hop is dead, the rules dont matter anymore because of Drake. I don’t call it a flop popularity wise, i call it a flop for a rap album. I understand that Drake has to cater to several audiences but i cant call this a rap album, this is a bryson tiller album, more rnb then bars. he should have used the take care, so far gone method. This album didnt have balance in terms of rap. if you like pop, this is for you
Find in my comment where i mentioned anything about Rap. Drake has and always be a pop artist. Why the fuck would you expect anything else? He’s literally did what he’s been doing for the past 7 years and you bitchin.
Hip-hop is dead? Alright. SMH.
He did it poorly this time, that’s my point. This is the first time, the pop and rnb overshadowed the rap music completely. This was a radio album and can’t be called hip hop. Hip hop is in fact dead if this can be called a rap album.
you got 2 RAP drake albums. one a mixtape and one with future. why would he do a third?
I have a crazy theory. Because he’s a rapper.
Bruh he sings and raps. You got two hard hitting drake albums. This is one for his whole fan base. So you have some rap, some pop and some rnb. Stop being selfish
I’m selfish for expecting a rapper to drop a rap album? this was supposed to be his magnum opus but he dropped an rnb album. HE should’ve at least balanced it better like take care but this was way too much rnb for me
when has he ever been JUST A RAPPER? Weston Road Flows, Hype, Grammy, Pop Style, Still here, Views.
Drake spoiled you ppl with those two tapes man. lmao
Man if Drake thinks he’s a hip hop legend then he should drop a classic rap album and shut us up.
shit hes a MUSIC legend. fuck a genre
i can accept that. He’s proven himself in music, just hope he drops a classic rap album one day
I agree.
l think it lived up to it’s expectations. I like it a lot, it’s all opinions though
The beats were easily the worst thing on the album. itis like they said. drake.. your lyrics got you here. not your production. we’ll give you mediocre beats so yourwords can shine. And it showed holw bad drake is at making rap songs and how good he is at making pop songs for women. Horrible album
There are unwritten rules to dis rapgav can buy a Frankie Valli album, if I want to here cheesy ass singing. Why can’t dis weak ass white boy fake nigga write his own shit anyway. I know kids in grade school who can write rhymes. It’s cuz this nigga fake and didn’t grow up in black culture. He has no point of reference. So he should just be a pop star and stop faking. I always liked Eminem cuz he neva tried to be what he wasn’t. He rapped about what he knew. So fuck Drake. He let a nigga pi’s in his face and did nthn. Kendrick Lamar could destroy that pussy easily. I know whites wanna feel apart of hip hop so they want to make Drake’s mutt ass the face of it. In the black community authenticity is everything.
COULD YOU SHUT UP AND PUNCH YOUR MOM IN THE STOMACH FOR HAVING YOU
POP is short for POPULAR!! What ENTERTAINER doesn’t want to be POPULAR?! EVERY RAPPER wish he was POPULAR as DRAKE!!!
Pop is a genre of music. Check for Ariana grande and Taylor swift and the genre is pop. Kendrick Lamar albums are labeled hip hop. There’s a difference between between being a mainstream rapper and a pop star and Drake makes music to appeal to rnb/pop/rap. This album was made to dominate radio, with it being mostly rnb and pop and less rap
On first listen theres really no stand out radio tracks though.it took me like 5 listens to realize one dance is a catchy radio song.
I’m not a super Drake fan…but I respect him…he does him! The album is cool…I’m only one listen in.
People complaining what was he supposed to do?? Try to be Kendrick? He’s doing what has made him super successful and he’s not slacking at that. Anyone acting like he can’t rap is just hating bc “r&b” or not…this nigga still better than like 90% of these niggas in the game…and that’s a fact!
With all the new good ones…we have to give them room to be great!
Drake is on his way!…He might’ve peaked..but as talented as he is…he’ll always have a hit or two in his repertoire!
Megamind
I like the album but the feeling I get is way less than what I got the last project. The rapping tracks are dope but few, the RNB stuff is OK I think he made a huge mistake leaving Popcaan and the Throne off their respective tracks. Views definately has it’s hits and Drake is playing the consistency game where he is catering to the fans who are actually gonna buy this shit instead of the “real hip-hop crowd”
exactly dude some of these niggas are the most insecure in their sexuality and masculinity that its pathetic. What does the r&b have to do with the fact that he can rap as well? lol i hate rap radar mentality its sickening. drake has always been a artist rather than simply a rapper. this album sounds no different from what hes always done but you know theres so many men especially black men who will strip drake of his credit JUST because hes a personal guy.
I agree..
Zane Lowe’s personality is blah.
I can only keep repeating one sentence when this album comes up: Wine and candlelight dinner soft.
Doesn’t mean there isn’t a place for if but this is a bedroom jam. When last has there been a Hip Hop album that’s a bedroom jam? Exactly. This really isn’t Hip Hop. Drizzy turned in an RnB album with all the hype he had, ridiculous.
I guess YALL DON’T LIKE WOMEN, huh?
Stupid comments like this irks me.
WHY?
So if i dont fuck with drake, that must mean i dont like women. Thats what u saying right? Wtf does one thing have to do with another?
We talking about his MUSIC not HIM as a PERSON!!! YES, if you don’t LIKE his MUSIC you CAN’T LIKE WOMEN because Drake make MUSIC for WOMEN!!! And HOW can YOU DISLIKE a PERSON YOU DON’T KNOW?
Of course im talking about his music but you fanboys got yall head so far stuck in his ass you dont see it. And that defense of if you dont like his music you dont like women is so weak, its funny and stupid simultaneously. Find something better to use.
Bruh your avi name involves Drake. Truth of the matter is you put more into hating him than most of his Luke warm, instant gratification fans put into liking him. It’s weird.
You are not that bright even though you are trying to sound smart. Its just a name for SHOCK effect that i used for this thread. Whats weird is you responding to me talking about hating him when i wasnt even talking to you in the first place.
You commented on a public thread dummy, and I did the same. Truth hurts huh?
Yep. I was right. Not too bright at all
Lotta hate in here…the album is fire. Niggas always gonna say shit didnt live up to expectations. Every track on Views is dope, definitely better than NWTS and the two mixtapes last year. Give it time
I liked about 10 joints on there. Even tho this album didn’t live up to expectations I thought it was better than NWTS
pussy ass drake strikes again, music for the softys
the album is cool, just cool though thats all i can say about it
yet another thread that reinforces my hate for rap radar bloggers. lol its like yall just compete to see who can come up with the dumbest shit to say. Damn man black men disappoint me so much. any way it was a great album. I understand that we wont all agree and thats ok. but the REASON u disagree is what i focus on. yall say shit like “album was soft” just because god gave him the gift of vocal ability as well as lyrical ability. the funny part about it is that if he were to use female singers on his album instead of singing his own material yall wouldnt have called him soft. Kendrick had just as many jazzy and laid back tracks on TPAB but yal wasnt calling him soft. Why? becuase HE wasnt singing? the reality is that the majority of yall niggas are jealous of drake. u wish u had the courage to be as transparent and honest as him. girls LOVE that shit.
Kendrick jazzy records made sense do to the concept of the album. Views was a weedplate end of story!
Here we have yet another rap radar idiot. yah niggas just keep coming. *sigh* ok lets break down the logic of your thought…
If kendricks jazzy tracks made sense to do the concept of the album, then what makes u think that Drake’s R&BDancehall didn’t make sense to do the concept of VIEWS? Because YOU personally didn’t like them?
Nah i personally dont like you because you out here defending a gay rappers wack ass album!! View these 6 nuts!
Lol are yall done or yall finished
maybe you like girly music and you confuse real hip hop with some soft emotional r&b
another rap radar slug. it just doesnt end does it?
im guessing temptations stevie wonder maxwell etta james is just boiled down to soft emotional and girly huh? tthe logic of you rap radar commenters is detestable. I have never hated a set of people more than i hate u niggas here.
yes, is mostly about love and that aint considered to be hip hop. this shit is called rap radar
So there’s no such thing as rapping about substance like love huh? So big and pac never rapped about love or emotions? Ll cool j ain’t say he needed love? Dog just stop commenting on my shit you sound worse with every reply. I’m sick of you stupid niggas. Your mothers should be disgusted how yah niggas turned out like you’re all literally fucking idiots. Mentally barren fools the lot of you.
every rapper has some love songs, pussy ass drake has made a whole catalogue of love songs, so he and you are faggs
Eat shit hoe
I thought “I Need Love” was wack too!!!
I always thought LL’s “love songs” we’re pandering and condescending to women, trying to say what HE thinks they WANT to hear as opposed to the flawed truth (i.e. “Song Cry”)
They DID want to hear it that’s why they bought the fucking music.
thats the problem with u stupid niggas in the black community. yall relate anything with emotions or femininity as “soft” or “gay” yah niggas need to step ya communication skills. God i fucking hate you all.
My only problem with drake is his authenticity, not his craft. I hate the whole “ting” thing hes doing like hes talking all this shit about canada but u trying to talk Patois and carribean and its annoying. its rare that i feel like nicki and drake are being genuine especially in interviews. and as much as i like VIEWS i dont like that hes all of a sudden talkn about hitting licks like drake thats not u homie its mad corny.
I havent listen yet but didnt this shit just come out like yesterday? haha man Jay said it best.. yall mother fuckers live with an album for one day and already rate it as a classic or whack.. damn instant grat these days.. Its almost obvious yall was saving these messages until the day it was released.. talk to us in a month after youve heard ya girl and all ya friends listening to it..
Drake, PEAKED. Period
A decent artist, who’s INFAMY unfortunately GREW faster than the amount of “classic material” in his catalog.
To much is given, much is required.
Not saying he Hasn’t put some work in.
But the “Apple Deal”, all the cross marketing, put his brand in a stratosphere where the quailty of the music doesn’t really match.
And I can’t say that’s HIS fault.
But “the greats” all had some classic work under their belts PRIOR to getting the keys of the industry handed to them.
Driz got big fast, and now “the Art” isn’t on the level of his “platform”.
I remember seeing dude on his 1st club tour off the “So Far Gone” mixtape, I was in a club in DC standing next to “Skillz” and we looked at each other and nodded “yea, he got next”.
I think he’s still the biggest artist in the game.
But to win the belt you gotta BEAT the champ, not take him to “a draw”.
Kendrick has impacted the culture.
Drake impacts the charts and the airwaves.
But the GREATS, have always been the ones who impact the culture itself.
They artistic nature of their work changes how ppl feel or think.
That’s bigger than spins or sales.
And it last a lot longer.
That’s why ppl still revere Nas & Jay so many years passed their primes and best work.
Because what they did was classic and culturally significant.
It’s a few others who are too, but with Drizzy only time will reveal the level of his greatness
Kendrick impacted the culture ? If you don’t mind me asking how ? Because I can make the argument of how he hasn’t really…
– He’s No.1 in a lane once held by guys like Nas, Lupe and was supported to be set for Jay Electronica
– He is part of an alternative movement in LA which has already existed, he is the middle group between being a gang-member and being a civilian
-HIs most abstract album could not have been made without his first great but accessible album
– What true influence has he really made because you can’t say his topic because he made them relevant again but it didn’t influence people to do the same plus the timing of TPAB matches the current social situation in the US which again has been existed for a while now ?
So history, growing up in a major city and making great independent albums diminishes his impact…?
People of all races are chanting “We gon’ be alright” during political protests in 2016. Enough said.
All these make a great artist but let’s not act like Kendrick’s impact is bigger than Drake’s because it really isn’t, The reason I question this is because I have noticed people trying to discredit Drake’s impact like it’s something to blow-up, he is the ultimate outsider who became the ultimate insider, his mixtape impacted the landscape of mixtapes themselves, He is the first international guy in Hip-Hop to be number 1 in Hip-Hop, He literally created a lane for himself (to his detriment at times)to the point when any rapper that tried to do that, he is their first point of reference. Plus the same people who chanted ” We gon be alright” was chanting “Started From The Bottom, Now We Here” , “YOLO”, “I’m Just Saying You Could Do Better” and even more recently ” Riding thru the 6 with my Woes”
Dude stop, really. Just stop. I respect your a opinion, but it’s nill.
Just like the homie said upstairs.
Nobody is chanting “Riding through the 6 with my Woes” anywhere else but the club….where it’s supposed to be.
You’re comparing a popular (good) artist against a dude that has REINVENTED flow, delivery, narratives etc.
C’mon you can’t be serious.
Kendrick is being studied in classrooms. Drake is being slandered for lack of depth.
You’re confusing impact with commercialism. Drake definitely has a bigger brand because he makes pop music. But impact, globally, Kendrick is doing more for society than Drake ever will. Drake is quietly a culture vulture. Acts Black American when it’s convenient.
The impact between the two isn’t even close.
Initially I was questioning if I’d like the album. After listening to it a couple of times, I’m thoroughly enjoying it. I like the mix of songs.
The views is drake worst album.
Views is his best album! Loving the Pink Floyd ‘flowing’ concept album vibe and retro instrumentation at times, the Stevie Wonder type chords and FM Pads, + The MJ type inflections and melodies.
Drake PEAKED, period.
But to much is given much is required.
He’s brand grew quickly with all the deals and crossmarketing.
And many were ready to GIVE him the keys to the kingdom.
But Hip Hop always has a way of balancing things out.
I don’t think at this point in his career the extent of his “reach” matches his body of work.
I wouldn’t call him wack or even over.
But to take that next step to true greatness you have to move the needle culturally and that has nothing to do with popularity.
Jay, Nas, Kanye and others had ALBUMS that impacted the game CULTURALLY that LEAD to popularity and ultimately access to diversify.
I remember seeing Driz early at a club in DC during the “So Far Gone” tour, I was in the back of the club standing next to “Skillz” (yea that one) and we both looked at each other like “yea this kid got Next”.
A rapper/singer light skin curly head nigga that can act?
What’s gonna stop HIM?
Debut album dropped and it an awesome debut. Game changer actually.
Now being a rapper/singer is the PROTOTYPE. Post Malone, Tory Larenz, Kirko Bangz and I’m sure many others we haven’t seen yet.
He KANYED the game.
But what cats like Kendrick are doing is affecting The Culture.
It’s MORE than popular chart topping songs.
It’s music that infiltrates the soul and you feel it on a different level.
To be one of the greats you HAVE to do that “classic piece of work” that touches people BEYOND the hype.
Nas did it on Illmatic and later on Stillmatic and Life is Good.
Hov did it on RD, Hard Knock, The Black Album and some would include American Gangster.
Kanye College Dropout, Late Registration and Graduation
Shit, Snoop did it on Doggystyle
Cube did it on Death Certificate
Kendrick did it on Section.80 and Good Kid MADD City
Cole on FHD
I think they reason cats consider this a “dud” even if it sells well, is that it didn’t move the needle creatively or culturally.
I think ppl WANTED to see dude take it to the next level.
‘Specially coming off the Meek Beef .
He was given a “pass” for the ghostwriting fiasco.
But he’s at a point where he can end up being Mase, Ja Rule or Nelly.
Extremely POPULAR high selling artist for a period.
With a catalog limited to just hits with little cultural impact.
