2018 Grammy Rap & R&B Winners
And The Winner Is…
The Grammys was a good night for some, but unfortunately not so well for others. This year, Kendrick Lamar nabbed 5 gramophones by sweeping the Rap categories including Best Rap Album (DAMN.), Best Rap/Sung Collaboration (“LOYALTY.”), and “HUMBLE.” brought wins for Best Rap Song, Best Video and Best Rap Performance. Meanwhile, Bruno Mars took home all six of his nods including the academy’s top category for Album of the Year (24K Magic).
Mixed emotions however came when JAY-Z, who lead the pack with 8 nominations including all Rap categories, the Album of the Year, Record of the Year and Song of the Year, left empty handed. SZA, who was up for five nods including Best New Artist, also left gramophone-less.
Other notable wins during the evening included Childish Gambino’s “Redbone” for Best Traditional R&B Performance and The Weeknd, who wasn’t present, winning Best Urban Contemporary Album for Starboy. Congrats to all the winners and nominees.
