XXXTentacion was fatally gunned down in South Florida this afternoon. He was 20. TMZ reports the drive-by incident stemmed from a robbery while the rapper was leaving a motorcycle dealership in Deerfield Beach, Florida.

According to police reports, XXXTentacion was in his BMW i8 when he was approached by two armed suspects. One of them opened fire. XXXTentacion was unconscious with no pulse when paramedics arrived. He was soon pronounced dead by Broward County Sheriff’s Department. No arrests have been made, but police are searching for two black males, a black Dodge Journey and offering a $3,000 reward.

Despite XXX’s controversial feuds and ongoing case of domestic violence, the Plantation, Florida native was on the right path for a brighter future. Hours before his demise, he was working with a local suicide prevention charity. Musically, the young star reached rapid success last year with his stellar debut album, 17. In March, he released his sophomore album, ?, which debuted at number one on Billboard charts. R.I.P.
