Deja Vu

The 61st annual Grammy Awards is just right around the corner. And it looks like Kendrick Lamar’s bringing the ceremony to Wakanda. Today, the music recording academy announced the nominees and K-Dot leads the pack.

Kung-Fu Kenny kicks in with 8 nominations thanks to the Black Panther soundtrack, Black Panther: The Album. Curated by himself and TDE, Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, the film’s compilation project is up for Album Of The Year. It has spawned the hit single “All The Stars,” which is up for Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year, and Best Rap Sung Performance. The soundtrack’s “King’s Dead” is also up for Best Rap Sung Performance as well as Best Rap Song.

Drake and his latest album Scorpion isn’t far behind with seven nods. Female artists overall dominate the awards with a slew of nominations including Cardi B, Janelle Monae, Ella Mai, SZA, H.E.R. and more. The ceremony takes place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 10 at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.

The academy has also increased the Album Of The Year, Record Of The Year and Song Of The Year nominees from five to eight. The full list of nominees in the 80 categories can be viewed here.
