Meek Mill reached a plea agreement and plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge this morning (August 27) in a Philadelphia court. As a result, the rapper has ended his 12-year legal battle which kept him on probation most of his adult life.

Back on July 24, a Pennsylvania appeals court overturned his 2008 drug and gun conviction. Three judges came to the unanimous decision and reopened the case after newly discovered evidence alleging police corruption related to the arresting officer. The new case could now be unlikely retried, as the officer is a key witness for the prosecutors.

During his 10 year probation, Meek’s been in and out of prison. His most recent, was a harsh sentence for probation violation, where he served 5 months. Since then, the Philly rapper has been heavily involved in criminal justice reform, more particularly with his involvement with the REFORM Alliance.

On July 23, Meek Mill and Jay-Z announced their new partnership deal between Meek’s Dream Chasers label and Jay’s Roc Nation management company. Justice for Meek served.
