Pop Smoke, born Bashar Barakah Jackson, makes his posthumous acting debut in the upcoming drama-sports film, Boogie.
Written and directed by Eddie Huang, the coming-of-age story centers around Chinese-American and Queens basketball sensation Alfred “Boogie” Chin (Taylor Takahash). The film follows Boogie’s hoop dreams for the NBA while navigating through a relationship, high school, the pressures to pursue college, and rivals including Monk (Pop Smoke).
The nearly three-minute trailer features Pop Smoke’s “Got It On Me” and the upcoming soundtrack will feature new music from the late rapper. The film debuts on March 5 by Focus Features.
