Prince Markie Dee Dies At 52
First the Fat Boys break up.
The world is mourning the lost of rap pioneer Mark “Prince Markie Dee” Morales, a member and co-founder of the legendary group Fat Boys. He was 52.
It was confirmed on Thursday (Feb. 18), the Brooklyn rapper, songwriter, producer and radio personality had passed away in Miami, a day before his 53rd birthay, due to congestive heart failure.
In addition to his contribution to the Fat Boys, Prince Markie Dee also launched a solo career with Columbia Records and released his 1992 solo debut album Free, which featured the No. 1 hit single, “Typical Reasons (Swing My Way)”.
Morales has also wrote and produced hits from countless artists including Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey, Drake, Jennifer Lopez, Frank Ocean, Destiny’s Child, Coolio, Craig Mack, Macy Gray, Ariana Grande, and more.
Most recently, Morales hosted a radio show on SiriusXM’s Rock The Bells. Our thoughts and prayers go out Morales’ family and friends.
