Megan Thee Stallion Honored With Day & Keys To The City In Houston
Happy Megan Thee Stallion Day
Megan Thee Stallion was awarded Houston’s Keys To The City and given her very own Megan Thee Stallion Day starting May 2.
On Sunday (May 1), Mayor Sylvester Turner honored the 27-year-old rapper in recognition of her contribution to her city, reports the Houston Chronicle. During the ceremony, she was even given the Belt Buckle for the city of Houston and cowboy hat to complete the look.
During the ceremony, Sylvester explained that the key symbolizes that Megan Thee Stallion has the authority to enter and leave the city at any time. “Individuals who receive the key are responsible for upholding Houston’s values and represent the best this city offers,” Turner said. “In fact, the key is our commitment to those who represent Houston at its best.”
Megan Thee Stallion had also launched the fundraiser “Hotties Helping Houston,” which offered meals, water, other supplies and access to plumbers for those devastated by Texas’s 2021 winter freeze that caused widespread power outages and left hundreds dead.
Meg has been recognized for launching the nonprofit Pete and Thomas Foundation, which focuses on education, housing and health and wellness—in honor of her late father and her mother as well as her “Hotties Helping Houston” fundraiser, which offered meals, water, other supplies and access to plumbers for those devastated by Texas’s 2021 winter freeze.
