MTV‘s Hottest MC’s In The Game draft kicks off today, and rounding out the top 10 is Shallah Raekwon. According to the 1515 Boys, this is what The Chef brings to the table:

I’ll never get their standards and criteria for making this list. It’s wild inconsistent every year
As happy as I am to see Rae get exposure for this on MTV, 2 years ago he doesn’t make the list if Cuban Linx 2 comes out with the same critical acclaim but same sales.
Hopefully though they keep a bit more consistent and understand that ultimatley you have to look at different outlets for Hip-Hop fans to decide what’s hot. Putting Rae is a good sign, but a couple of years ago when they left Nas out who had just put out Hip Hop is Dead and had some buzz off it and some apperances, they decided to put Andre 3000 off the strength of a couple of “hot” remix verses instead. But hey, like I here’s to a consistent system.

Shallah Rae has been murkin his darts since day one in the game, for Rae to make this list when everone was counting him out!
He is the only underground Dude on this list that doesn’t go platinum in sales but diamond in the streets!

Good to see Rae got his proper due. On the real he should have placed at least # 5 or better. But what the fuck does MTV know.
the rap game is all fucked but only in the main stream media jay-z just put out the blue print 3 and it was number 1 on the charts but it was the worst album he ever made and its still better the most albums out right now and that’s sad but there is a bright side people in ever city there are artiest staying true to the game making mix-tapes making music there way the true to the streets way and you wont hear it on the radio because if you did there music would change just look at Gucci mane and plies they were hot on the street but when they tried to go main stream they sucked ass look at Lil Wayne his mix tapes were FIRE but his albums PLEASE!!! need i say more. in closing all i can say is support your local artist so they can keep making the music you like in my area the d.m.v we got allot of tight rappers but you will never hear them on the radio like the ”mob boys ” chaos” the committee boys”and them rollinup records dudes . I’m glad there not on the radio cause i now there music would change and i like bump there shit in my car.
regardless of how you feel about the main streem media, it exists. The people who eat it up like its fuckin potato salad also exist. Its would seem like everyone hates mainsteem rap, with the amount of hate it gets; but it continues to sell. I say fuck it. If 16yr old highschool punks want their “turn my swag on” ringtone to bang out in the middle of class to get some attention from the girls who think soulja boy is “omg cute” then let em. Its supply and demand. Theres obviously tons of people out there who enjoy & buy this shit, and dont like to voice their opinion as much as “real hip-hop” fans, or the very pop-culture inclined mainstreem media would change up the game.
To sum it up: Every runners beat sounds the exact same, DJ Khaled is as much of a joke as anyone in the history of the universe, and Ace Hood is more generic than Kirkland products. But they’re all millionaires…because of the consumer. So dont blame the record execs, blame the girl down the street who would actually buy plies cd’s eventhough he wants to “drop some mayonaisse, baby, in your salad”
oh and drake better be #1. not only because i beleive he’s actually a talented artist, but who on earth hasnt been talkin about him lately? good or bad, publicity is publicity. I wish when i broke my ankle EVERYONE knew about it. to me thats what “hottest” means. the list would probably be more accurate if they didnt even talk about it and just went with gut instincs. When you ask yourself the question “who is the hottest?” the first name that comes to mind, whoever it may be, probably is (if you pay attention to the rap game), thats the way the sub-conscious works. then just average it out like they do.
