Had a talk with Jay Electronica last night at S.O.B.’s and he told me I should stop frontin’ on my brother. So here we go. Seriously, this young man’s latest project shows even more artistic growth. Give it a listen and judge for yourself. Don’t worry, he’s a big guy he ain’t scared of none of your comments. Ha! Download here. Tracklist on the other side.
Not Bad. I think he played the mocking Drake schtick a bit too long for the average listener though. If someone goes to the bandcamp site to make the effort to listen to the project and they listen to the first 30 second they may not know its intended to be poking fun.
Electronica was doing something well intended but I’d imagine the average listener is gonna want one song to pinpoint whether they’ll give his other content a shot.
damn wish i had a brother on this site i cant even find one of dude’s songs on youtube but im expected to download an entire mixtape when i cant get one song submission in….. whatever yes…. bout to give it a listen
“Chase My Dreams” was nice, but I thought he would at least break the beat down, it just looped until the hook. I thought that song was nice…but cut out the singing. Don’t halfway sing..if you’re going to sing, then sing….I hate that Kid Cudi singing shit..LOL..
“Commercial Break (David Robinson)”….that was nice
“Ain’t My Fault” had nothing but potential…I can’t believe he rapped like that through the whole song…I thought he would pause and start spitting. The lyrics were aiight, but why did he ride the beat like that?
“The Brink” was cool too, but again…why no breakdown of the beat? I don’t know who’s beat that is…but I needs to have a breakdown..
“Heavy Rain”….I like that for obvious reasons…the beat is hot..he spit decent.
Overall, I didn’t like the tracks..They didn’t break down. I also agree with Tiny Tim..when I heard the first track I was like “Awwww damn, not another nigga on….OOOOOOOOH” it just took too long, good thing I listened, I thought it was fresh.
Polish up those tracks and tighten up those bars. Song concept was there but…..again…tighten that shit up. Potential….
I found a random song on youtube and thought it was dope enough to dl the mixtape. i’m going to give it a listen tonight.
