Black Eyed Peas frontman, will.i.am is set to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The L.A. native was discovered by Eazy-E and will be the fourth hip-hop act to receive the honor. Diddy was immortilized two years ago. No date as to when the ceremony will take place.

I wouldn’t get too excited about getting a star. Sure you get a ceremony and a plaque but then you leave and the star gets walked on for the rest of eternity. … Or until no one remembers you. Do they keep all the stars or they replace them like the wax museum when a celebrity is no longer memorable?

Requirements for a Walk of Fame star (From Wikipedia)
– 5 years of involvement in the entertainment industry (A posthumous nomination must be made at least 5 years after a celebrity has died.)
– A nomination with agreement from the celebrities’ management (A letter from the celebritie’s management must accompany the nomination.)
– The nominations of those not selected are “rolled over” to the following year for reconsideration; those not selected two years in a row are dropped, and must be renominated to receive further consideration.
– Living recipients must agree to personally attend a presentation ceremony within five years of selection. A relative of deceased recipients must attend posthumous presentations.
– A fee (currently USD $25,000), payable at time of selection, is collected to pay for the creation and installation of the star, as well as general maintenance of the Walk of Fame. The fee is usually paid by the nominating organization, which may be a fan club, or a film studio, record company, broadcaster, or other sponsor involved with the honoree’s current or ongoing project. (The Starz cable network, for example, paid for Dennis Hopper’s star as part of the promotion for its series Crash. It was unveiled in March 2010, shortly before his death.)
Given this information, I doubt Eminem would get a star because I don’t think he (in a way) paid for. Seriously this honor is like sending flowers to yourself on Valentine’s Day so you’re not the only girl in the office who didn’t get flowers. Plus I don’t think he would show up to receive the honor. He’s just not Hollywood like that.
