Apparently MTV was pre-taped and this is Ricky’s true victory speech live from St. Martin where he’s apparently vacationing with his Carol City conglomerate.
I got two questions:
1) Do real gangstas rock pink Air Yeezy’s?
2) Three #1 albums in a row is a great accomplishment, but is 158 K really somethin’ to brag about?

I know you’re pushing your 40’s and may not be all that in tuned with what’s poppin or not…but yes, G’s rock the yeezy’s…they’re the hottest kicks in the hood since they first started releasing the retro J’s, or when the Bape craze first blew before it got corny…dude’s are getting robbed for those shits early
And yes 158K is something to brag about in the year 2009, it’s #1 and the highest selling debut for a hip hop release this year for a reason…you remember when everybody, including yourself, were acting like jada pulled off a minor miracle when Jada did 130K don’t you? Wasn’t it just a week or two ago? Now all of a sudden damn near 160K ain’t impressive? Fuck outta here

158K is good, but no comparsion to Get rich or die Trying, that ricky wanted to top. And its not comparsion to Curtis. It´s not even near a Fifty/em/dre
150 in a week isnt great dude…and saying “its 2009” is hilarious to me. didnt the Carter 3 break EVERY rap selling record last summer….didnt TI move 500K in a week last summer too.
For all of Ross’s claims on this record…150 is trash. And anyone who believes a good chunk of those werent bought by him and Def Jam is tricking themselves.

It’s 2009…Em will go million + in a week, 50 will easy do over 500K for sure…and lets not even think about Dre. It’s not the year dude…its the music. Good records sell. Deeper Than Rap wasnt good.

ps…Ross said he ruined 50’s career and wants to go after Em now. He thinks hes as good if not better than both of them. By his own logic, he should outsell them with his worst album…but Ross couldnt with his best “game changing” album. And 50 killed him in sales with his self-admitted weakest record “Curtis”.
When you say you are gonna kill one of the best selling rappers in the game…and then go after his mentor, the BEST selling rapper in the game…but then sell 150K in your first week, that is bad, no matter how you spin it.
And you can try “record sales arent everything” but apparently to Ross they are…so smarten up

True he’s not putting up super popstar numbers like Eminem, but he never has and never will. He’s a consisently gold rapper. He did excellent numbers in this climate.
And what exactly is all this promotion of which y’all speak? The only promotion dude had was his single, hitting the ground city to city doing shows (the old fashioned way), youtube videos, and people talking about how dope his leaked tracks were…there were no Broadway shows or documentaries like Jim Jones (who only did 30k)…no commercials between shows on MTV for months on end, MTV spring break performances, or “the next great white hype” buzz like for Roth (who only did 70K)…and no airing on his video every hour on the hour on all MTV’s networks, or videos on Cinemax like Eminem…
Stop trying to make excuses for dude’s success…he has the #1 album, the highest debuting rap album on the year, and rave reviews as the best album of the year so far from critics far and wide…

All that video stuff didn’t hurt Ross…it helped, now 50 in a position where he needs a records…bc Ross got like 4 or 5 singles on the albums and a strip club record with Trina for the South…..
