Before Wyclef officially announced his bid for President of Haiti, he brought CNN along for a ride as he discussed his vision for the country. Screw Sean Penn, Clef’s got my vote.
I support Sean Penn’s comments.
Dude’s gonna rip off his own charity that was for the haiti quake, then the dude is gonna run for president? Fuck Wyclef, stick to music my dude.
I like the idea of Clef running for Pres. But running a country ain’t no joke. Hope he’s up for all the mud slinging
[…] about what his plans would be if he does win the vote to be the new President of Haiti. Spotted @ RR via […]
as much as I hate sean penn the dude spoke the truth. this is gonna be a disaster if he wins
For all y’all stupid mother fuckers talking bout Wyclef ripped off his charity eat a dick! Do you really think 100% of the money you give to any charity goes straight to the people? The only reason the media started attacking him was because after the quake a lot of people were sending money to Clef’s charity but meanwhile George W. Bush & Bill Clinton were tryna start a charity of there own so they could get a piece of the action. Not to mention Red Cross and other charities that been around wanted a piece as well, that’s why they started mud slinging at Clef. All I know is when everyone else was talking about it, Wyclef was being about. He was the first out there on the ground helping his people. If he was really just using the money for his own financial gain, do you think the Haitian people would be supporting him the way they are? Wyclef may not have experience but he can put a team in place to help him along the way just like every other politician does. From where I stand it seems like Clef loves his people and is passionate about restoring his country and bringing them into the 21st century. More power to him.
As a Haitian national, I don’t believe Wyclef is the right choice. He will be doing the Haitian people a disservice by running for president. Would anyone for Jay-z for mayor of Brooklyn even though he represents Brooklyn all day–No. Haiti needs someone that can weave through the complex maze of a place that does not have a constitution, a real parliament and real infrastructure. Although Clef’s heart is in the right place, running for president will only create more frustration for the people.
Take a look at the Obama presidency, for example. The man is an extremely astute politician yet he is having the worst time getting anything done. So yeah Wyclef wants to help the country but becoming the president isn’t the way to do it. What clef has describe thus far as his position as a candidate sounds more like a secretary of state where he goes to different country to work out alliance and ask for help not a president. He does not know the players in the government. Is his cabinet going to be filled with Haitian diaspora? Who will he surround himself with? We all witness what the people he surrounds himself with before did in the charity situation.
I love clef he has done great things for the image of Haitian both in America and in Haiti but my country needs more than that at this stage. It needs a policy person that can construct a real constitution that will empower its people, create jobs and build an infrastructure that stop the bleeding of the country.
@TheChosenOne
You can’t start a sensible conversation with a insult. No one is going to want to converse with you.
@RapRadar/B.Dot
I’d love to know you all are so for Wyclef? He hasn’t presented anything concrete other than more globalization and global interest in Haiti, which most believe isn’t a good thing. What is it about him that gains your favor?
I am still against Wyclef being or going up for President of Haiti. He’s been M.I.A. in his ambassador post and he hasn’t even spent the required 5 years of living in Haiti to count. Yes he has international fame, but is that what Haiti needs? He doesn’t have any political background (other than Ambassador) and doesn’t even have a college degree. His financial history leaves something to be desired. How can he be trusted to run a country when Florida has been trying to shut down Yele Haiti for years now because he has failed to file the correct tax forms? If anything, I would prefer for him to go back to school and take classes in economics, political science, and law, then in 6 years go back up for the presidency. Then at least I would believe him to be more qualified.
@Luc
Obama, in my humble opinion, is having such a hard time because the republicans and conservative democrats are doing everything in their power to keep money flowing into their own pockets (i.e. supporting medical lobbyists, trying to further the Bush tax cuts, etc). Also, he can stand to have a bit more backbone and stop trying to appease everyone.
Hahhhh Pras won’t even support his ass.
Hilarious. Haiti doesn’t need Wyclef, Haiti needs someone that knows their shit.
Same with the united States, Obama doesn’t know shit about being a president, he was only voted in because he’s half black. Ol’ mug talkin’ about promising he’s gonna do this, and do that dude ain’t done shit he promised. Economy has gotten worse. I’m black and I don’t even agree with Obama being president.
What credentials does this guy have to run for a position as president of a country? Fuck outta here.
@Vexed and Glorious
You make some valid points, can’t argue with logic. I especially agree with you on what you said about Obama. People think he isn’t doing anything but the fact is the republicans wont let him. They want to get back in power so it is in the best interest for Obama to fail. He does need to speak up about this though. Republicans talk massive shit about him like he’s messing up the country but when Bush was in power they weren’t saying shit. It took Bush 8 years to fuck things up this bad but Obama is supposed to fix everything in less than 1 with them throwing road blocks at him every step of the way? C’mon Son! thefuckouttaherewithatbullshit!
Luc brought up some good point, but i’m gonna still co-sign thechosenone’s first comment.
and sean penn is completely out of place to talk about clef. due’s been there for 6 months and thinks he knows shit
What the fuck does this nigga know about bein a politician? NOTHING. Haiti been through nothing but shit this year, and a musician is running for the highest level of office? I DON”T THINK SO!
Im still rooting for Clef, i hope he wins and i hope he can help change things but if not i hope some1 can do the job.
Nigga talking bout Serpent in the Rainbow… I don’t know y’all…
