RR Exclusive: Eminem Speaks On MTV Stunt & Robbery Rumors
Three days ago at the MTV Movie Awards, Sacha Baron Cohen caused a firestorm as “Bruno” when he landed ass first on Eminem. Many speculated for the days whether the stunt was staged or real, with everyone speaking except the man himself. Breaking his silence, Em spoke exclusively to Rap Radar about the entire “ordeal”.
Can you clear up the Bruno stunt at the MTV Awards? Was it staged or planned?
Sacha called me when we were in Europe and he had an idea to do something outrageous at the Movie Awards. I’m a big fan of his work so I agreed to get involved with the gag.
If it wasn’t planned the way you agreed to, do you hold MTV or Sacha responsible and will you take any kind of action?
I’m thrilled that we pulled this off better than we rehearsed it. It had so many people going “nuts” so to speak. Everyone was blowing me up about it.
After you left the ceremony, where did you go?
After the ceremony I went back to my hotel and laughed uncontrollably for about 3 hours. Especially after I saw it on air.
There is a rumor that you hotel room was robbed and thieves got 60K and your laptop while you were at the ceremony. Is that true and if so what would someone find on your computer?
The only thing was that I lost a Nike watch that we were looking for. The rest it is made-up like half the other stuff out there.
How do you think the show with Jay went and how did it feel performing “Renegade” again?
I love performing with Jay. It’s the third time we’ve done the song together live and it’s always fun. It was an honor to share the stage with him again and to work with his band.

Scott Aukerman’s is the only “confirmation” right now that claims it was all staged. Every news article that states the same are using Aukerman’s quote as the source. Not very beliavable. Sacha Baron Cohen and MTV staged this, but Eminem had no idea what was going on. No matter where he goes or what he says, the image will haunt him forever.

Anyone who thinks Eminem wasn’t in on the gag needs to have a little think about whether a corporation like MTV would risk an aerial stunt, like the one Cohen performed, that could result in serious and permanent injury. Even a minor accidental butting of heads could put MTV in court for years.
If the harness has comes loose, if Eminem had changed seats, stood up or moved even slightly as Cohen descended, the whole thing could of spelled disaster & large corporations like MTV, as well as Cohen himself, wouldn’t even risk the idea without full co-operation and signing off of all parties involved.

I think Em can act, but I’m not sure about his boys, Bizzare, and whoever else that was up there. They were genuinely surprised and pissed. Yes, he has a drug problem, however, he is in recovery. I would like to meet the man or woman whose life is perfect. These entertainers put themselves in the spotlight and expose themselves full monty and we eat them alive. How many of us could do what they do and have people delving into every closet looking for skeletons? I know that I couldn’t. They seem to have no privacy and there is no honor among the press. So now we’re all supposed take his word for it? And the media go ahead and report his explanation as the truth? C’mon people! He went back to his hotel and laughed for 3 hours? He and Sacha rehearsed the 69 earlier? Sacha doesn’t usually let his unsuspecting victims in on the prank – that’s the point. So now we are to believe that Eminem wanted Sacha’s ass and balls in his face on live TV in front of the world? What’s genius about that? Ok, I came on this site to see whether or not it was staged, to see if Marshall had a problem with it and how SBC dealt with it and whatnot. Instead, all I see is comments filled to the brim with anger and rage and intolerence?! Like, seriously, one, does it MATTER if you think whether or not he’s gay– it shouldn’t change your opinion of him anyways. On top of that, where the FUCK did race come into this?? It was a stunt, it was funny (if only to see people’s reactions to it), end of story. Why does that make Marshall anything other than a great hip-hop artist, and one of the best rappers out there? The color of our skin shouldn’t define what anyone has a right to, we all get three, and that’s it. There is, I’ll admit, a lot of white dominated fields in work and life and what have you, but it’s mostly white MEN. Women, black people, native americans (why were they brought into the race war anyways?), spanish, asian… whatever. It doesn’t matter. If we would all try and get over our own self-supposed superiority, I think the world would be a much better place.

This stunt with Eminem and Bruno is one of the funniest things i saw all year! lol I am a big fan of Eminems music and Eminems music videos but hes always so serious in them. So its great to see that he does have a great sense of humor and can laugh at himself as well. Hes a great rap music artist and his Rap & Hip hop music videos are some of the best around but its good to see a hip hop artist drop their guard just for a little while so we can see that they are actually human after all.
I don’t understand why people are hatin’ so much on Eminem, he did a good job with his new album Recovery. Love the way you lie with Rihanna was going hard for a couple of weeks in the billboard chart. People who hate Eminem; get a life people. I’m a big big fan of him. Let him come with more new hip hop songs and I am sure he will still win the billboard positions!
