Now after listening to it I definitely am feeling the track. Jay Electronica is one of my favorites right now just hearing a new track is out excites me. I think he’s one of the important missing pieces that was missing from the game. Just my opinion.

  3. Kayo says:

Dang…This song is really nice. Jay Electronica may never be recognized as the nicest mainstream wise, but he definitely gotta spot in my top 3.

  4. ben says:

im glad people stop sleeping on my dude. hiphop fans rejoice! our savior is upon us.

  5. jayefan says:

My style is like a shot of Jack Daniels, a baby grand piano
lighten a hopkin smokin cigs strummin’ on the banjo.
The son of mans the son of a gun with hella ammo
Sheriffs shootin’ Bob Marley, John J Rambo.
Six sextillion, 19 million, the holy pyramids say we all a lost children.
Voodoo for the pilgrims who bring weapons and conceal them
they silence you with force and then Indoctrinate the children
Yo gaba gaba!, augmedina? Jabwa?, blow up your apartment if you don’t observe the Sabbath.
I look the devil in his eye and say abracadabra
then drown em in the mighty light his brain couldn’t fathom.
scrapin every day just like fight club, a thriller and a smooth criminal like Mike was

  12. Word says:

I like his use of extended metaphors. But I dont understand why every song he makes takes so long to get started. I can do without the MLK part at the beginning, I heard that speech like a million times in HS thank you very much.

  13. KC Baboso says:

sounds eerily like guru at the beginning. song is dope cant wait for Act II. Props to YN on the JayElect article in Respect too very interesting read

  15. aqua says:

“Don’t sell yourself, to fall in love…” Word to Slum Village. RIP J Dilla.

  16. @ Word

the exact things that annoy you about his song(s) is part of what i love.

who hates on hearing mlk talk about not fearing death merely days before his assassination? yo honestly that shit is tear-inducing for me. u don’t understand why? i’m sure he’s doing it deliberately even though he knows the short attention span nation will hate it.

he makes you sit through omg a minute of a jfk speech? omg. jesus how much of radio format songs can u take? blahblah. no point in me getting combative, though. i like it.

  17. wow says:

lol this aint even a guru beat….its a instrumental from the group home album

  18. […] Jay Electronica dropped a new joint earlier today. This would be the third track he’s leaked in less than month so I’m not complaining. “Jazzmatazz” is a tribute song to the legendary Guru (Gang Starr) who passed away earlier this year after a long bout with cancer. After the initial MLK speech, Jay summarizes Guru’s journey in hip-hop in two dope verses. Lyrically Jay is cross between a shaman and the Oracle from the “Matrix”. Its all very layered and forces you to pay attention which is always appreciated. Please check out the new song and let us know what you think. Shoutout to Rap Radar […]

  19. QUEENZ says:

Nice, keep it coming Jay! “The son of man’s a son of a gun with hella ammo”

  28. QUEENZ says:

Man, I love this brother’s music, Kingdom Music as he calls it. I hope he never compromises his art for that shit that Diddy was talking to him in Miami (hear Shiny Suit Theory). This is powerful, and when it drops I’m coppin a couple copies just like I do when Nas drops. Peace to Jay Electronica and keep doing what you been doing. Your train is running on schedule.

  33. MARS says:

……Not impressed. Son is getting all this shine off a minimal amount of product. Even his mixtape was mostly beats and interludes. He’s got like 3 SONGS!!! Exhibit A and C and The Ghost of Christopher Wallace. Dont get me wrong..He’s special….but he’s still on proving ground.

  34. MARS says:

I am glad that he’s holding it down on the Black Culture side of things. Thanks for that Jay.

i can do with mlk too only because dude is the only person, besides rosa parks, who we hear about throughout our forced bullshit education.
mainly cus mlk preached non violence and other groups that that werent so non-violent are obscured to fixed non existence
but i get what j.e. was going for with the symbolism just dont know if the uneducated are so aware…

  38. MBM says:

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the lord

Boom bash dash I had to break I had to get away
    Pack my bags
Headed for Greyhound it was a Monday
    Time to start my mission
I felt that burning feeling in my soul
    I had to listen
I had this reoccurring dream from the stage
In a suit with a fade I had set the game ablaze
And they threw me a parade
I stacked a little change and took my family out the caves
But I was trapped in the maze
    Like a lab rat
And at the bottom of the barrel where they keep the crabs at
    No Geico, no Aflac
    Nothing to fall back on
But the streets where niggas cussed out the police
    And sold their crack on
    Better known as back home
Where they treat the Arabs and the Spanish and the Blacks wrong
There he go with that song
You may be tired but I spit what I’m inspired from the lord of the worlds
Cause the devil is a liar

Say say, I’ve seen the lightening flashing
    Yes I did
And I’ve seen the thunder roll
But you can’t, you can’t keep me down for long
    Cause I’m getting stronger
    Cause I keep getting stonger
    Oh yeah, oh yeah

    Here we go

My style is like a shot of Jack Daniels
    A baby grand piano
Lightnin Hopkins smoking cigs strumming on the banjo
The son of man’s a son of a gun with hella ammo
Sherrif shootin Bob Marley, John J. Rambo
    Six sextillion, 19 million
The holy pyramids say we all a lost children
Voodoo for the pilgrims who bring weapons and conceal them
They silence you with force and then indoctrinate the children
Yo gabba gabba, agma dina jagua
Blow up your apartment if you don’t observe the Sabbath
I look the devil in his eye
    And say abracadabra
Then drown him in a mighty light
    His brain couldn’t fathom
Scrappin every day, just like Fight Club
A thrilla and a smooth criminal like Mike was
