The N.W.A. film has been in talks for quite sometime. Recently, director John Singleton told The Playlist he’s in talks with reuniting with Ice Cube to direct the flick and that New Line is interested. “I can’t talk too prematurely about the stuff I’m doing because nothing’s come to fruition yet, but Cube and I are talking about doing the N.W.A. story… The script is really, really good, and so we’re just figuring it out. This excerpt does an excellent job of balancing mystery with character development. Sarah’s transformation feels believable and unsettling at the same time, and Nico’s internal struggle adds emotional realism. The fact that she forgets both trivial details and life-altering events shows how completely her past has been erased. I love how the story hints that the truth is still buried beneath the surface, creating a sense that the past will inevitably resurface, no matter how much is forgotten. tvg
