This guy just won’t go away. Ha! For the seventh non-consecutive week, Recovery remains at the top of the Billboard 200. The only other male artist to have spent more weeks at number 1 was Usher with Confessions at nine weeks in 2004. As far as Hip Hop artists, Outkast’s Speakerboxxx/The Love Below was at the top spot for seven weeks during 2003/2004. A whole new meaning to one yourself.
TMZ reports the producer went missing yesterday in L.A. after being distraught over the robbery of his $2 million Jacob watch. Subsequently, a APB was sent out that he was possibly suicidal. Timbo was later spotted in his Escalade by officers and after evaluations from paramedics, Tim was declared not a threat to himself. Sidebar: Baby Girl related or just a coincidence?

Today marks nine years since Aaliyah was tragically killed in a plane crash after shooting a video in the Bahamas. Via email, Missy Elliott reminisced with MTV about her fondest memories with the singer. R.I.P. Baby Girl. We’ve had so many memorable times. My most memorable is when me, her and Tim wore outfits alike! It was burgundy Pony outfits to the awards. Mind you, Aaliyah was petite so her Pony outfit looked so cute on her, but I kept […]

[vodpod id=Video.4301442&w=425&h=350&fv=] Hip-hop’s #1 groupie released a video on WSHH today where she appears to be spending quality time with the author of “Superman.” Even more disturbing than that, is Stacks claiming young SB is a coke head. Oy vey, can someone make it stop? Anyways, DeAndre is denying all charges. Let’s hope this soap opera blows over quickly.

This is a great reminder of how powerful and lasting Lauryn Hill’s influence has been in music. The fact that The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill eventually reached diamond status after so many years shows that truly meaningful music can continue finding new listeners long after its original release. I also like how the article highlights the combination of hip hop, R&B, neo soul, and reggae that made the album so distinctive. Achieving more than 10 million sales is an incredible milestone, especially considering how much the music industry has changed since 1998. The album’s success feels less like a temporary trend and more like proof that strong songwriting and authentic artistic expression can remain relevant across generations. It is interesting to see how numbers can tell part of a story, whether we are looking at album sales or using a proportion calculator to understand relationships between different figures.
