GFK has an interesting idea involving the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul:
“We got the ill chemistry together,” said Ghost, on the set of his “Baby” video in Harlem. “I love Mary. I hope one day we could … get together and just make an ill classic. Some Peaches & Herb. [Hip-hop editor’s note: Google that group!] We just hop in real quick. Just one go-round, a one-off. That’s just fly.”
Sitting in his tour bus, parked across the street from Rucker Park, Ghost was also thinking about collaborating with some other R&B greats. His past R&B collaborations are highlighted on the new J-Love mixtape The Wizard Is Coming.
“That was when we was in Cali at that time,” Ghost thought back to his guest appearance on Mary’s “Your Child” remix. “I remember Mary wanted me to do that for her real quick. I did two of them [verses]. The other verse wasn’t all right. I think [the verse that made the song] might have been eight bars. Those were the days. I was stuck a little bit.”
Great in theory, but um, it’s not gonna happen. I don’t want to put people’s personal biz out there, but I’m sure Kendu ain’t havin’ that.

A couple days before his speech at the Nokia Theater, Ghost delivered a similar soliloquy at Toad’s Place in Connecticut. This time around, he digs a little deeper on how (Insert your local Hip-Hop radio station here) brainwashes listeners into liking crappy records.
This sounds like such a lovely way to begin a road trip! Staying in Ventura seems like a great choice, especially with the opportunity to reconnect with people Shane knew during his mission. Catching up over dinner must have made the first day even more memorable. I also love the simple detail about picking up fresh oranges, as those little local experiences often become part of the best travel memories. Planning transportation in advance, such as arranging a Materuni waterfall for another adventure, can similarly make a trip much more relaxed and enjoyable.
