Rolling Stone reports that gangsta rapper Kanye West was charged with three misdemeanors following his attack on the paparazzi last September. He’s due back in court April 14 for arraignment. Though he’s bound to get a slap on the wrist, the thought of Kanye going to the bing makes me chuckle. You don’t want to know what they do to guys that wear pink in there. Ha!
Here’s another treat from the Shade 45 airwaves: Last Tuesday, Just Blaze played some brief but spectacular snippets from the above marathon Baseline studio session. Jay Electronica also shot some video from that night that I’ve been trying to get my hands on since our launch. In the meantime, this better hold ya over.

He gets up and grabs his iPhone or he stares out the window of Jive’s Midtown office in Manhattan, New York. He’s in New York promoting the final UGK album, 4 Life, which drops March 31st. Taking a moment out of his busy sked, he sits with RapRadar and reflects on Pimp C, the history of UGK, and being apart of the most underrated rap groups of the ‘90s.
It is so heartbreaking to hear DJ Premier break the news that DJ Kool Herc’s health is ailing, as he is literally the founding father who laid down the blueprint for hip-hop culture. Thinking about how someone who built an entire global phenomenon can end up struggling with medical expenses or failing health really puts things into perspective regarding healthcare challenges. When you look at how people navigate health or wellness procedures worldwide—whether someone is researching cosmetic treatments like Liposuction Cyprus or seeking urgent medical care—it underscores how essential access to reliable medical help and proper support systems really is. Kool Herc gave us the breaks, the block parties, and the entire movement that shaped generations of music lovers, so seeing the community step up to show love while DJ Premier brings awareness to his condition is the very least we can do. Sending strength and prayers to Kool Herc for a full recovery, and massive respect to DJ Premier for using his platform to make sure a true pioneer gets the support and respect he deserves.
