Just when expectations couldn’t get any lower, Soulja Boy forgets the asthma pump and creates “Pretty Boy Sawg”. SB’s syncopated flow is laughable and so is his redundant usage of “swag.” Move along folks, there’s nothing pretty here.

Bob Marley had it. And now, redemption belongs to Eminem. After leaving fans and critics bewildered with Relapse, he got back to rap and exercised his demons with Recovery. From the opening whistle, Em knocks it out the park. Haunting pianos shield “Cold Wind Blows,” while apocalyptic drums create the backdrop for “Won’t Back Down”. On a lyrical front, Em’s pen is still on point. His signature wit and rapid flows ignite “On Fire”, lure “Seduction” and push Lil Wayne […]
[vodpod id=Video.3439506&w=425&h=350&fv=%26rel%3D0%26border%3D0%26] Before Nicki went platinum with Pink Friday, she released her first single, “Massive Attack” to much anticipation. Only problem was that it turned out to be a massive mistake. Nick and Sean Garrett’s chemistry mixed like vodka and milk. Her quirky rhymes coupled with his shoddy hook were a recipe for disaster. In fact, the reception was so bad it didn’t even make the final cut of the album. Better hold onto them tom toms.
This was initially intended to close out Freddie’s debut LP on Interscope, but thanks to The Smoking Section, they have unleashed the five year old track. We’re always up for some cognac.
Number four should’ve been number one to me. A lot was riding on Big Boi. Could he successfully deliver an album without his partner-in-rhyme, Andre 3000? Turns out he can, with this solo debut, Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son Of Chico Dusty. Big Boi sets the tone with the ubercool ,”Feel Me” and “Daddy Fat Stax.” From there, the funk hits the fan and Sir Left Foot unleashes a synchronized flurry with “Shutterbug”, “General Patton”, “Tangerine”, “You Ain’t No […]
On July 19, 2010, Young Jeezy took his talents to Ustream to give us the status of his constantly-delayed TM103. It was a fun day at the RR mansion and Da Snowman even shouted us out. But then the streaming stopped and Def Jam blasted out a new song. It was supposed to be “Who Dat on steriods”. It was gonna jump-start the project to a true release date. Then we heard the song. Oy vey! Yuck! ‘Fuckin’ thing sucks! […]
Warning: This one might get a lil Blackout-ish. But I’m sick and muthafuckin’ tired of people frontin’ on this album. Yeah “9 Am In Dallas” and “You Know You Know” were dope but their exclusions didn’t do anything to damage this excellent effort. You So Far Gone stans need to get over it. Nitpickin’ nitwits. I’ll admit I still respect “Over” more than I like it but there’s some songs that are undeniable like the three formidable features with Minaj […]
[vodpod id=Video.3439076&w=425&h=350&fv=%26rel%3D0%26border%3D0%26] Tricking anthems were all the rage in 2010. But none were worst than Plies’ “She Got It Made”. With Clinton Sparks providing the backdrop, Algernod comes off more like a sucker for love than a smooth sugar daddy. And on top of that, his cringe-inducing chorus turns threads like Gucci, Louis, and Prada into designer knockoffs. Sorry bruh bruh, but this cut couldn’t sell with a discount.
This ain’t for everybody. Anchored by producers, Plain Pat and Emile, Kid Cudi takes us on another dark ride but this time it revolves around some guy named Mr. Rager? Yup, I’m confused about that part too. But seriously I do know good music, and this G.O.O.D. music artist’s sophomore release has plenty of it. From hippy dippy trippy (“Mojo So Dope”) to vulnerable (“All Alone”) to brash (“Ashin Kusher”), Scottie bares his soul whether through singing or spittin’ bars. […]
