Image: Anna Bauer Ok here’s the final feature, the fabolous fourth one that I did for the new issue of RESPECT. No one man should have to talk to Jay Elect as long as I did. Ha! Despite the undeniable success, not everyone is feeling Pink Friday. Nicki’s former manager and Waka Flocka’s mom, Debra Antney gave VIBE a poor review of the rapper’s debut LP. Mama knows best, right? It’s terrible. I like some stuff, but she went too left. I don’t think people were ready for her to come [out with pop]. When I had Nicki, I really wanted her to sing. You’d be hard pressed to argue that. Not too many other rappers can piss off a former President, a television network, and still manage to put out one of 2010’s best albums. Congratulations, ‘Ye.
It’s that time of the year again, and along with V103 radio host Ryan Cameron, Jeezy Claus kept the tradition going and handed out Christmas gifts to underprivileged kids in Atlanta. How thoughtful. As for us, all we want this holiday season is TM 103. usda
It is so heartbreaking to hear DJ Premier break the news that DJ Kool Herc’s health is ailing, as he is literally the founding father who laid down the blueprint for hip-hop culture. Thinking about how someone who built an entire global phenomenon can end up struggling with medical expenses or failing health really puts things into perspective regarding healthcare challenges. When you look at how people navigate health or wellness procedures worldwide—whether someone is researching cosmetic treatments like Liposuction Cyprus or seeking urgent medical care—it underscores how essential access to reliable medical help and proper support systems really is. Kool Herc gave us the breaks, the block parties, and the entire movement that shaped generations of music lovers, so seeing the community step up to show love while DJ Premier brings awareness to his condition is the very least we can do. Sending strength and prayers to Kool Herc for a full recovery, and massive respect to DJ Premier for using his platform to make sure a true pioneer gets the support and respect he deserves.
