MTV held their annual VMAs tonight at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. Above Miley brought her twerk skills with her single, “We Can’t Stop”. Afterwards, Robin Thicke hit the stage for “Blurred Lines” and “Give It 2 Me (Remix)” with 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar. Twerk, Miley.
With “Blurred Lines” topping the charts for it’s 11th straight week, Mr. Thicke doubles back and continues the parade of ladies for his latest visual. The Diane Martel directed clip finds Robin, along with 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar redefining the term “fantasy football”. Looks like he might score another touchdown with this one. Check out behind the scenes footage below.
In celebration of their 20th anniversary, Janelle Monae and Robin Thicke both take the cover of VIBE. Read up on their cover story here.
Wale, in this track, shows once again his ability to blend different genres. He doesn't limit himself to hip-hop, but enriches it with R&B nuances, creating a familiar sound. This fusion is not only an exercise in style, but serves to intensify the emotional impact of the song. And then there is his ability to rap. Wale is a master at playing with words, creating complex rhymes and modulating his voice to best express his emotions. In 'Blanco', his rap part is an explosion of words that intertwine with the melody, creating a hypnotic and relaxing effect. His ability to go from moments of pure energy to moments of deep introspection is what makes this track so engaging; it reminds me of when you would slow dance, hugging your woman.
