You’re still not happy with the state of New York rap? Well Lloyd Banks is back to alleviate your Big Apple blues. You know how the lyrical assassin from G-Unit does it. And if you forgot, I’ll let him tell it. “What’s up with all the clowns?/I gave you years/How dare you doubt me?/Even when I ain’t here, you hear about me,” he boasts on the opener, “The Natural”.
The original Blue Chips was universally celebrated. Released in 2012, it was pretty much the first project that established that Action Bronson was more than a Ghostface Killah knock off. He and underrated producer Party Supplies showcased their true chemistry which is further evidenced by this strong sequel released a year later.
They make a good combination, don’t they?
Busta been signed to YMCMB for awhile now but now it feels like things are really starting to begin.
The co-CEO of GBE, Fredo Santana is building his new movement Savage Squad and what better way to usher in his movement than with a strong single featuring Kendrick Lamar.
Seven straight albums. Critics might not wanna admit but nobody in rap did it quite like DJ Khaled did it. The Miami everything man makes big promises and often he backs em up creating some of hip-hop’ s most engaging posse cuts of the past few years. He’s a conductor and master motivator at getting A+ efforts from hip-hop’s vanguard.
The great ones accept great expectations. They know their only competition is truly themselves. Their past accomplishments. Many were surprised when Em announced his seventh major label album would be named after his 2000 breakthrough, Marshall Mathers LP. How could the Detroit MC possibly top that ten million selling blockbuster in 2013? Well even though Slim Shady is 41, he still don’t give a fuck.
If you’re tired? Well go take a nap.
Sail Away.
Man, this drop from Masspike Miles is seriously smooth from start to finish. The Road Less Traveled totally delivers on that signature R&B vibe, and the production choices across these tracks are just insane. It honestly feels more complete than a lot of full-length albums out right now. Tracks like "Devoted" with Bun B and the title track hit different when you are just cruising around the city late at night. If you are heading out to grab the physical copy or hitting up a late-night listening session across town, trying to flag down reliable taxi services can sometimes be a real hassle, so planning ahead definitely saves the mood. Overall, this project proves why he is such a vital part of the Maybach crew. Definitely keep this one on repeat for a while.
