TMZ scored the audio of the Commander In Chief calling Kanye West a jackass. Congratulations. Now, for the real matter at hand. So far in my career, I’ve been entrusted with enough “off-the-record” statements to write a tell all. As a journalist, it’s disheartening that a reporter betrayed the president’s trust and transcribed what he said via Twitter. Is anything sacred these days? Stop letting your fingers do the talking, people.

Twitter nor any other information vehicle is not the devil. It is a lack of reporter integrity that is loatheable in this situation. I too have been fortunate enough to have interviewees say things in confidence–and know they won’t be exploited for the sake of headline-grabbing. Shame on Terry Moran and or whomever leaked that information.
