The interview was all good right up until the “rapping” part….IMO, hip-hop’s de-facto ambassador to the world shouldn’t be promoting the idea that rapping is something that just anyone can do…stuff like that just leads to shitty rap music. i’m ambivalent about the interview … oprah is not a fan of hip hop and has on countless occasions shown disdain for hip hop artists who have appeared on her show as part of movie cast ensemble interview. real talk – i think for oprah it’s JUST a music form (rap) not a culture (hip hop) which is what most of the civil rights generation makes of it. but as always hip hop proves to be resilient and articulate and of course insightful….while mr. s (dot) hasn’t had the privilege of teaching af-am studies at harvard (a la louis ‘skippy’ gates) or at one of the other ivy leagues (a la toni morrison) he could teach oprah and black inteligencia circle a thing or two about life/race relations/ and a host of other topics…..he deserved the whole hour and he deserved an interviewer who is as articulate and bright as him.
