What blog trashed him? far as i seen his latest track was internet GOAT everywhere.

  2. P says:

maybe he should just drop Act II und everybody will be happy…

  3. Sensitive ass bastard. Quit bitching and put out an album if you’re that good. Also, if Joe Budden said this the entire world would be bitching and moaning. Ugh.

  4. koa29 says:

Sigh…. this guy puts out a few tracks and gets cocky… and YN bashes Lupe when he’s cocky even though he’s put out 2 quality albums and won a grammy.. SMH, YN got a cute thing for ppl’s names that start with Jay..

  5. khal says:

i dont think he’s cocky b/c he “puts out a few tracks”… when i first heard about him, it wasn’t his music – it was the nas/badu/just blaze co-signs. nigga might’ve came into the game with a bigger head. he can spit, and exhibit c is undeniable. but nigga please.

  6. koa29 says:

OK, but i’m just sayin, his head is way too big…regardless if exhibit C was dope..

  7. So Icy Boi! says:

Fuk dis old Rhino lookin ass nigga

  8. this was wack says:

Somebody needs to chill…because he seems to really think that other rappers are whack because a blog said he was wack! Well sorry Mr. Electronica….there are several artists that are far from being “wack “and has put in more work than you and if your getting upset over blogs calling you wack wait unitil they hear how bad you STUTTER!!!! Grow a backbone…do you think Jay -z would rant and rave like a cry baby because blogs say he sold his soul or do you think Nas would rant and rave like a cry baby because blogs say he lost…hell no Jay and Nas could give a damn what these blogs say because they are LEGENDS…so who the fuck you calling wack? Man up the game is harsh and they will call you far more than wack if they see you acting like a bitch over a fucking word! Negro please!

  9. koa29 says:

Jay electronica AKA old rhino ass lookin nigga…..YOU PLAYED YOURSELF

  10. Cunning Link Quest says:

    cry baby ass nigga.

  11. koa29 says:

Act 2 droppin Xmas….wait no, New Years…..NIGGA…..new years WAS 11 DAYS AGO……. get ya shit straightened out, bum ass….if you was “hard workin”, that shit would be out on your set deadline….

  12. Ty says:

What is it with niggas talkin’ back to media outlets nowadays? Unless it’s a very prominent outlet don’t these dudes realize they draw more attention to whatever it is that pissed them off than it otherwise would’ve gotten? Case in point , I hadn’t heard this til he said it himself .

Art is a very subjective thing. Put yalls music, album covers and whatever else out there and take the bad with the good. Responding to every criticism on an individual makes you look so small. The Big Dogs don’t do that.

  13. WhatsUpSon says:

Right on Jay Elect. I’d still like that Act II sooner than later though. Anyway, just about all rappers address their “haters” in some form or fashion. Twitter just happened to be his avenue. No big deal.

  14. shame says:

^^^It is a big deal when you are damn near 34 years old up and up & coming rapper and crying about blogs calling you whack when you admitted to not wanting to work a 9 to 5 and sleep from couch to couch now that behavior/attitude is some whack shit coming from a grown ass man his age and now you got the nerve to cry about blogs being critical of you not put a mix tape that was due 2 years ago…Act II was promised to the fans in 2007…nigga is LAZY he admits to not wanting to work!

  15. Name (required) says:

I’ve seen this before, and after reading these comments, I know that Jay is on his way. Jay keep going. Nevermind the hate, it is a sign of the success to come.

  16. WhatsUpSon says:

This ain’t about his work ethic; it’s about whether he’s a good rapper or not. One rant doesn’t mean he lives for the critical blogs.

  17. Ac@pella! says:

I gave up on lookin’ for Act II a LONNNNNNGGGGG time ago. It’s the Detox of the mixtape world…

^^^^i think that is what his fans want him to do “keep going” but he seems to not have the work ethic too do so…ACT II is delayed for 2 years already! There are plenty good artists in hip hop that put in work but Jay Electronica is wasting nothing but time hip hop fans wait for no one he can be hot one day and and cold the next (proven with bloggers calling him wack and saying he blew it)! Hip hop is a fickle game and besides his talent is nothing we haven’t seen before!

  21. khal says:

    @DDotOmen he can live… but bloggers can’t?

  22. WhatsUpSon says:

@Shame I dig your point of view.

  23. OneSmartBlackBoy says:

I just wanna point out that the fuck yo blog part is a quote from one of his older songs… he’s probably not actually throwin shots and any one particular blog due to somethin recent happening…

  25. Van says:

Never take to heart the words or actions of the 85.

  26. Consignment says:

This dude can’t have an ego. I heard exhibit c and I was moved by the reality and talent, but until he makes HITS (Jesus Walks, Through the Wire, Superstar, Best I Ever Had, New York etc.) he needs to be cool. He can rap, but I can already tell he’s got a lil’ wack juice flowin’, because his chick record swagger is a lil bogus. Don’t tell me Spiritual rappers don’t make good chick records too (Common, Mos Def, Dead Prez etc… got some bangers!!!).

Don’t get ahead of yourself Jay Electronica-

  27. B.Dot says:

    @ Onesmartblack boy

    Yeah, “Swagger Jackson”

  28. Calmatic says:

yall blowin this outta porportion, he’s not saying that rappers are whack. Hes just sayin the blogs dont know what the fuck he has in store for them to be saying shit like “he blew it” He sayin if hes considered whack by that blog than everyone else should be whack too because they dont really do anything thats a whole lot greater than what he does. This has nothin to do with other rappers, just these bloggers that think they know what they talkin about. You know bloggers that wear “J Dilla saved my life” shirts and they never heard of Dilla before he died.

  29. NEGRO PLEASE says:

I NEED TO HEAR MORE THAN ONE SONG FROM YOU IN ORDER TO EVEN TO HAVE A DISCUSSION ON YOUR SO CALLED “MUSIC”. YOU WILL NEVER BE BETTER THAN PAC, NAS OR JAY-Z SO JUST STOP HYPING UR OWNSELF UP BUDDY. AND MAYBE U ARE THE BEST, BUT IN UR LITTLE WORLD. AND ON A SIDE NOTE, NIGGA U LOOK LIKE A OLD FUCKING RHINO. HAHAHAHAHA.

  30. Noles506 says:

That’s why blogs shouldn’t force there opinions on people, share the fucking music & let the people decide…..

  31. QUEENZ says:

at first glance of these comments, youd think the commenters were ages 5-10 years old. Are you kids really calling people names now? Rhino looking and what not? Grow the fuck up. Jay Electronica is a rising star and I support that brother 100%. He hasn’t disappointed me yet. For all you late commers talking about he only has one song (Exhibit C) and thinks he’s the shit, do your homework cuz at the very least, there are two exhibits before C. Then there’s “Dear Moleskin”, Annakin’s Prayer, Swagger Jackson’s Revenge, Google Eyes, Candy Man, The Levees Broke, etc. I can go on for days about all the crazy shit J. Elect has put out in the past few years thats smashing shit so he has a right to feel like he’s that nice. To say that he will or won’t be on Nas, Pac, Big, Jay level is uncalled for at this point and I’m sure he’d agree. The man is just getting started and he’s off too an amazing start so if the people are so excited about what he’s doing its not only cuz his shit is dope but its also telling of the lack of real shit coming from most of the other rappers out. For the niggas thats tired of the Gucci Mane’s and such we cling to Jay Elect’s new shit. Its what I fuck with while I wait for Nas to drop his next offering.

  32. Nathaniel says:

once again. not knocking his lyricism or knowledge…but got damn folks. this is 2010. the nigga sounds like a product of the mid-90s 5%er influenced rhetoric rappers. we’ve traveled down that rode before. with the guru (gangstarr) voice.

i need a progressive lyricist. sonically, image, the whole nine. ol nomadic, brandless ass nigga. hahaha but nah foreal though he’s dope. just lacking…on some “hmmm…i’ve heard this before” type shit.

  33. QUEENZ says:

wow, these are some of the dumbest comments I’ve ever seen. I think Jay was talking about the comment section in the blogs not necessarily the posts by the bloggers themselves. I mean, i see niggas on here talking about Jay is lazy and used to sleep on couches and didn’t want to work, niggas talking about he needs to make chick records, make hits, sell records, all this dumb irrelevant shit. Jay Elec makes great music, why is there speculation about what he will be in the long run or how old he is?

Kiss said it best…. “..what difference do it make nigga? Listen to the tape nigga…”

  34. Senyo_Twilight says:

this isn’t even up for arguement. dunno wtf yall on here wastin your time hating. not droppin aint got shit 2 do wit da man’s talent level. hug a couch, u bums. some of you cowards need some discipline in your lives.

  35. khal says:

@Noles506 who is forcing their opinion? most bloggers state their feelings… not try to feed it unwillingly. the reader has the option to not visit the site. simple.

  36. QUEENZ says:

@ Nathaniel and anyone who thinks like him

The nation of Gods and Earths a.k.a 5% nation isn’t a fad or a fashion statement so sounding like some mid-90s shit makes no sense. Its the truth to him and those that follow so the fact that its evident in his rhymes is the true definition of keeping it real in your records. His music is honest.

“Ol nomadic brandless ass nigga?????? should Electronica come up with a saying or catch phrase like Brrrr!!!! like Gucci, or YEEEEEAAAAAHHH like Jeezy to satisfy you? would that be progressive enough for you?

I fuck with MCs like Jay Elect cuz theres no obvious gimmick, the music sounds pure, he’s not coming in on the back of some other famous rapper and he’s doing his thing. I don’t care how long he takes to put out music cuz I favor quality over quantity.

  37. QUEENZ says:

    @ Senyo_Twilight

^^^^^^^^ I’m cosigning that my brother, these niggas want that watered down bullshit, we fuck with that uncut raw.

  38. QUEENZ says:

“Smile on my face, tears of a sad clown / feeling out of place as I whistle a cab down / If I tip extra can I huff a cig? Blow my smoke out the window, dropping ashes on the bridge? / I’m in New York now like Akeem and Semmi was, tryna get the lobby door open from a semi buzz” -Jay Electronic, Just Begun

Y’all niggas crazy frontin on this dude.

    @ QUEENZ

I know elijah muhammad, i know the NOI, i know Malcolm, I know Clarence 13X and his split from the nation, and why. and i know the ass. of malcolm hurt the nation and was a perfect setting for the 5% nation and its teachings to rise (especially because of the non-emphasis on discipline, moral, and otherwise) in the 70’s and into the 80’s in the 5 burroughs of NY specifically ….so i KNOW it isn’t a fad or fashion. trust me. his belief system (from what i can tell in his music), and the subject matter in his rhymes are all things i respect and appreciate, whether in music, education, or any other instution black folks put time and effort into. thats not my issue.

my issue is HIS APPROACH is tried and tested and ancient. subject matter and how it manifests itself in the music are two very different things. i listen to the nigga, but the shit he spits would be best suited for the youth, and the average substance-void hip hop listener. and because of that and that only, i’d be glad, and he could reach more ears i think, if he branded himself…to me, if you can’t reach those who are in most dyer need…then…like malcolm said, you shouldn’t be speaking. <—and i wouldn't even take it to that extreme. and no he doesn't have to do some corny shit, nor compromise his artistic integrity. this is art and business…if you can't merge both, you'll stay stagnant. i fuck with lupe cuz he did what other "conscious" labeled emcees never could. he bridge cool with the message. peace my nig

  41. CHILLEY MOST says:

  42. Kid C-A-L says:

    J.Elect what ? What we talkin’ bout ? We’re talking about J.Cole.

  43. QUEENZ says:

    @ Nathaniel

you know what? I thought you were gonna come back on some ignorant shit but I’m glad that you didn’t. Lupe is one of the dudes that I respect a great deal too but still its unfair to compare Jay Elect to Lupe cuz Lu is already 2 albums in and The Cool was his second album (which I love). Jay hasn’t put out an album yet so when you talk about branding it kind of confuses me. In fact, the first most of the world heard of Lupe was Kick/Push which turned a lot of would be fans away because at first glance (at his brand) all you saw was a black kid skate boarding making a song about riding a skate boarding, an angle which he’s since abandoned from my perspective. It wasn’t until you listened carefully to “Food & Liquor” and “The Cool” that you realized this man really has something to say. What I love about Jay is that he doesn’t have a defined demographic, he doesn’t have an angle, I don’t see a gimmick, and his lyrics aren’t as disposable as most of the shit out. I actually like trying to decipher some of the things that I don’t get right off the back and sometimes I may have to do some research but thats the kinda shit I like. You can tell hes a student of Nas (best ever). All I’m saying is give the God a chance and let’s wait to see how he delivers his debut album but let’s not chip away at him until then if necessary. For all the dudes that been complaining about the lack of rap with thought and substance, here it is so lets all enjoy it and stop knocking him.

  44. Nathaniel says:

    @QUEENZ

yea…i feel you and can definitely fuck with that. niggas complain complain complain about rap with no substance, then run a nigga WITH substance through the mud. i guess i was just thinking ahead in ways to make his efforts stronger. (definitely a student of Nas) was able to style and still appeal, but he got better at it as he grew and matured. you’re right, elec has not an album in the stores, so we gotta give the nigga AT THE VERY LEAST to get an album out. no doubt…but straight up, he’s 34 though, the biological clock is ticking lol he better put a move on!

  45. Nyc says:

Jay reminds me of killah priest & nas mixed together. I’m sure he was a fan of heavy mental.
This man is next in line to take the torch from nas.

  46. […] wrapping up Jay also explained that his “Fuck Yo Blog” tweet was taken out of context and he was just reciting lines from his song “Swagger […]
