How about cause Jermaine Dupri and B. Cox were responsible for 2 of the highest selling R&B albums of the past decade? On Mariah Carey’s huge comeback album, Emancipation of Mimi, JD produced the biggest singles “It’s Like That” “Shake it Off” and “We Belong Together.” Not to mention that he co-produced with B. Cox Usher’s “Confessions” and “Burn.”
The fact is that Janet hasn’t been as successful since the Super Bowl scandal since MTV and other outlets got a lot of pressure to not play her videos/songs.
Hopefully she comes back with some heat.

Not taking anything away from JD as far as success with Mariah and Usher goes but JD and Janet’s chemistry does not equal hits. If there’s someone who needs to link back up with JD on the musical front its Usher, not Janet. More power to Janet if she wants to drop something new, I’m all for it. I’m just against her and JD beating this dead horse. It’s Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, some new producers or nothing…this formula ain’t working for her. How many times must she flop to realise JD’s not gonna provide her with a “Mimi comeback moment”.

I don’t blame JD for her lack of success. Like I said, she dropped an album after the Super Bowl fiasco that had no production from JD and it did not do well. She actually had 2 joints that Kanye was on at around his most popular and it still didn’t sell well. The fact is that a lot of media outlets didn’t want to touch her after the Super Bowl thing. She also been making music for 25 years now. It’s not unthinkable to suggest that her music is getting a bit stale and people don’t get excited to her from her any more. .(Do you think that 10 years from now Beyonce will still be selling out stadiums?)Janet also worked with Stargate and The Dream on her last album and they didn’t make it work. I don’t think if she runs to Timbo or The Runners (or any other “it” producers) that people will all of a sudden be excited…Regardless, I can’t blame JD, who doesn’t get nearly enough respect as a producer. He’s been making hits for over 20 years.
